According to ndvet we run the same offense Bobby Knight ran at Indiana.

It's a good offense if you have slashers that can attack off the dribble like Ricky Calloway and Keith Smart. The slashers can then kick it out to a three point shooter or drop it off to one of the bigs inside. Huse described what we're trying to do on offense in his recent interview with Gidal: http://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/sp ... 963f4.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Biglow is a good guard for this offense. For it to work next season we're going to need a three point shooter to replace Moon, and a slasher to replace Blount. Dison and Colbert can do some of this, but they're too small to replace Blount.

Speaking of Bobby Knight, he has a new book out. Yes, I know, he had a bad temper and everyone remembers him for thowing the chair across the court (he hated incompetent refs just like the rest of us, but went over the top on this occasion). Nevertheless, the guy always had standup students regarding going to class, academics, etc.--you know, the sort of things that we certainly want to emphasize at MSU.

Knight won 11 Big Ten titles, 3 NCAA championships and a U.S. Olympic gold medal. He also won 902 games during his career.

But here's a quote from his book---one that I would love to plaster on the desk of Fields, Huse and Binford:

"You're playing for the name on the FRONT of the jersey. You're not here on scholarship to lose. I didn't recruit you to lose. Losing is abnormal; losing is unusual; losing is unacceptable. That's not what we're here for."

I remember him for choking one of his players. Guess he hated incompetent players too?

Great coach, crappy human being.

The vast majority of former players have nothing but praise for Knight. He certainly had his meltdowns, but I'm not in the crowd that calls him a crappy human being.

I know that Knight had some positive attributes as a coach and as a person, but there'e no excuse for some of the behavior that he exhibited over the years. It would not be tolerated from a person in a position of authority in any other profession, and it certainly wouldn't be tolerated from any of his players. I wouldn't go so far as to say he's a "crappy human being", but I also wouldn't want a coach like him representing MSU.
