Re: WBB vs Eastern
I was naive to pronounce a couple weeks ago that the Cats are a dominant team separating from the rest of the conference. They are really too young and inconsistent so we are going to have ups and downs especially on the road so eking out a win today was critical. I expect a similar close game when we go to Missoula and who knows what will happen in Boise!

Ella Gallatin, no less. When they say her name I keep thinking she’s one of ours.

Surprisingly, to me anyway, they didn’t play Rope-a-Dope with us. I take expected more of the Idaho treatment. I liked them playing us straight up, as it helped generate that big lead. The ‘Cats shot threes better when guarded without having 5 seconds to think.

Interesting comment by Coach Binford after the game. She said with this young team, referring to halftime, she’s still trying to basically figure out what buttons to push to motivate them. The rueful look on her face said that she probably pushed the wrong button. Something certainly happened at halftime.

I didn't understand our possession that started about :45 before the end of regulation, with a 1-point lead. Philip holds the ball until 7-8 seconds and we wind up not getting a shot off. Why hold the ball when your opponent is going to have at least 15 seconds left? Why not run your offense like any other possession? I can see doing that if you can run it down to under five seconds but this baffled me.

Madison O’Connor scored 40 against Huntley Project. Her scoring could really help the Bobcats next year, although she’ll probably need time to adjust and it’d be unfair to put too much faith and expectation on a freshman. She sounds like the real deal though.

Looking forward to watching her! Her mom was a scoring machine when I was in college.Will23C1982 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 09, 2026 2:33 amMadison O’Connor scored 40 against Huntley Project.
