I know she is only a sophomore……. But is she already making a case to be the GOAT?!?
There are very few teams across the country where she would not be starting.

She thrives in Binfords system. Not a pure shooter or pure point guard. Many nights a lot of her offense comes off her defense. She would definitely play on top conference teams but not sure starter. Look at Dykstra or Darian White. Hard to get time at those levels.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 31, 2026 6:32 pmI know she is only a sophomore……. But is she already making a case to be the GOAT?!?

Taylee is a scorer, not a shooter. Dangerous type.tetoncat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 31, 2026 11:42 pmShe thrives in Binfords system. Not a pure shooter or pure point guard. Darian was starting for Nebraska, before she got injured. Started against Caitlin Clark.
Dykstra is a really good player, but lacks the speed of an elite player.

I think the difference is her athleticism.
Darian white and dykstra (above examples), both phenomenal basketball players…. And although they are both very athletic, they are not even in the same realm when compared to Chirrick.
Again, very few teams across the country would not want her on the team. She is an absolute ELITE athlete.

She is a special player. Just plain fun to watch. Last year every thing seemed at breakneck speed. This year she looks more "controlled" in her play.

I think a lot of teams look at her and her results and would love to have her. I don’t know how many higher level teams would know how to use her or have her fit on their teams to get the same type of results.
She is still a bit raw skill wise and unconventional in how she fits into a traditional scheme. She continues to get better in a lot of those area. Bin, to her credit, lets Taylee be Taylee and has been very patient in expectations as she develops and in fact, has the entire team playing in a system designed to create chaos in which Taylee can be most effective.
How many other coaches would be willing to not try to overly refine her game, give her the flexibility to make mistakes on the court or adapt their system to let her do what sh dos best?

I hate to play the transfer portal speculation game when we're still in the middle of the current season, but one thing I will say is that Taylee is unquestionably a Big 10/SEC level player who we are very fortunate to get to watch playing for MSU for as long as she decides to stay here. We all hope it's 4 years, but for now I'll focus on enjoying the great season we're currently getting to watch unfold! Coach Binford has nothing left to prove in terms of her recruiting ability, players will always come and go but MSU will stay at or near the top of the Big Sky standings year in and year out as long as the leadership of the program remains intact. Brianne Bailey and Kadynce Couture are already turning into future stars in front of our eyes and they're just true freshmen.

And Jamison Philip is already a star in my opinion as a freshman. She reminds me a lot of Darian White as a freshman, but Darian got to develop over her first season with 4 seniors as the other starters.MSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 01, 2026 11:06 amI hate to play the transfer portal speculation game when we're still in the middle of the current season, but one thing I will say is that Taylee is unquestionably a Big 10/SEC level player who we are very fortunate to get to watch playing for MSU for as long as she decides to stay here. I think Jamison has played so much already that I don't even think of her as a freshman anymore!HelenaCat wrote: ↑Sun Feb 01, 2026 11:12 amAnd Jamison Philip is already a star in my opinion as a freshman. I am with you on enjoying the season while she’s here. Her entering the portal when the season is over is the elephant in the room and I’d say it’s more likely than not that she’ll be gone. She is a supreme competitor as well as a self-marketer/promoter (see her X account for example). I disagree with some posters as to how she’d do in the “big time” leagues. I would guess she’d end up back being a role player spark off the bench like she was as a freshman with the Cats. By no means am I dissing her, I was the first one on this board hyping her up long before she ever committed to MSU and I’d hate to see her transfer out. If she stayed, I’d love to see her run track at least one season!MSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 01, 2026 11:06 amI hate to play the transfer portal speculation game when we're still in the middle of the current season, but one thing I will say is that Taylee is unquestionably a Big 10/SEC level player who we are very fortunate to get to watch playing for MSU for as long as she decides to stay here. The good news is even if she leaves, we will still have a great team next year.
While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."
