MBB injuries

Post by Catfanatic84 » Tue Jan 27, 2026 6:25 pm

Anyone have any updates. Been a brutal year for injuries. Will we get any of the guys back before the tournament?

Who’s all hurt/out?

MSU - 17 team National Champions (most recent 2025); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Cavin Holden has been announced as out for the season but the other three injured/ill players (Mbatch, Davis, Brown) are unknown at this point in terms of their status. Cat Chat starts in 30 minutes and we could get an update there, although the coaches are usually very reluctant to talk about injuries there. It might have to come up this week especially for the men!

Logie also said that Mbatch is also out for the season.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Davis is expected to be back before the end of the season. Too soon to project on Brown.

Davian Brown is out for the season according to Logie at Cat Chat, Jeremiah Davis will be back "sooner rather than later".

Tough luck on Davian. He’s become my favorite new player to watch. Team will miss him in the tournament. Hard to believe the season is so near the end already — football only just ended!

The Bobcats are running out of players, especially guards. Will this force Coach Logie play his two redshirt freshmen, guard C.J. Purdie and forward James Steward?

It might depend on exactly how long Jeremiah Davis is out for. If he's out this weekend only, then it seems possible for MSU to go with a rotation of 7 supplemented by the two walk-ons Gaddis and Rutherford if needed. If it will be longer than that then you'd have to consider bringing in one of the true freshmen. In the transfer portal that redshirt year doesn't have the same value it once did. NCAA basketball really needs a redshirt rule similar to football that allows a player to appear in a limited number of games and still redshirt.

You make a great point. Trap Johnson, one of the redshirt freshmen last year, entered the portal and transferred to UC San Diego, without ever setting foot on the court for the Bobcats.

Trap could’ve had a big opportunity if he’d stayed with us this season.

Jeremiah Davis is a go for tonight so that's good!

Huge to be able to use the 8-man rotation.
