Seriously, what was the call at the end. I had the sound off. Looked like Miller was fouled and should have had free throws, but after the timeout UNCU has the ball??? Was it a 10 second violation because Miller thought he was fouled intentionally and stopped?

Some of the dumbest reffing I’ve seen in awhile. They were intentionally fouling, but they decide to call a 10 second.

That is egregious malpractice there. Not to mention the hacking on the possession before where Amunrud got knocked down on the ground and it somehow was a jump ball (fortunately we had the arrow).

Agreed, he was getting mauled to the ground!

Yeah I'd like if someone with recent reffing experience could explain the call at the end of that game.
I rewatched it and wrote down the time shown on the clock.

UNC scored and the clock stopped at 28.3
Cats inbounded and a player got trapped so Cats called time out at 22.4
Cats inbounded but the ball was immediately hit out by a UNC player clock was at 21.4
Cats inbound and the player got tied up and jump ball was called at 15.8
The jump arrow was in Cats favor so they inbounded again at 15.8
whistle blew and a back court violation was called against Cats.
The refs went to the replay and set the clock at 12.4

Just how is that a 10 second back court violation? Doesn't the ten seconds reset somewhere in all that happened?

Cats won so no harm this time but seriously.

My understanding is that time outs and fouls cause the 10-second count to reset, but jump balls and out-of-bounds plays do not. So when MSU called time out at 22.4 the count was reset, but the out-of-bounds deflection and jump ball did not reset it and therefore the count expired at 12.4 seconds left. Very tough for the offense to track that in a situation in which the shot clock is off, as usually they just know they need to get it across before the shot clock hits 20.

It's kind of wild to see that UNC is 1-6 in league play but 11-9 overall. After they beat Colorado, they have just fallen apart. Injuries?

They are gonna end up being that low seed in the BSC tourney that no one wants to have to face.

UNC will definitely benefit from an easier back half of their schedule as they've already played the Montana schools and PSU on the road and still have two games left against winless NAU. I think they'll end up somewhere around the 5th/6th spot by the end of the season and yes, they will be the team no higher seed wants to play in the tournament quarterfinal. Too much talent there to keep losing this much.
