What happened to the depth. Much higher minutes for main group and 4 bench points. Better than EWU with 2 and they only played subs 1 for 2 minutes.
Depth is hurting a bit right now with Brooke F and Heidi Smith out injured and Dylan Philip still not back yet. It has always been fairly common though for Coach Binford to tighten up the rotation a little once conference play starts. 4 bench points seems low but they did take 17 shots between them so on a better shooting night that total would have been significantly higher!

Makes sense. It seems that poor shooting nights are more the normal for this group. The pace they play at seems to lead to quick or rushed shots. Not necessarily bad ones. When get in a flow they have shown they can knock them down.

Yes, she did thankfully. Addie and Taylee were the "hot" players this evening. This game reminded me of the National Championship with the stats skewed as to who actually should have won the game. The tenacity of this team competitiveness as to never be leading in this game until overtime is remarkable.
I wouldnt call 11/30 hot. She missed alot of point blank shots under the basket. I don't know if her legs were tired maybe. Uncharacteristic.
The quotation marks signified sarcasm. Those two shot the best of the team by far.

2025 - When 13-2 means 2nd place twice in the State of Montana.

Agreed, I think the relative youth and inexperience of the team can show at times when they're on offense. If only they could always shoot like they did against Northern Colorado in the first quarter when they scored 38 points! They'll keep getting better, just look at the improvement Taylee Chirrick has made on the offensive end from last year to now.

Two players that were playing a lot of minutes in the top rotations are out. Brooke Fatupaito and Heidi Smith. That makes a big difference. With Dylan Philip still out there are only 10 players in the rotations.

Grace Hintz and Courtney Smith are still catching up on game shape and reps. All ten are playing but they now only have eight players that are at full capacity and sharing most of the minutes. With only 13 players on the roster, 5 injured or recovering makes a big impact.

I’ve said before that I really like Jamison’s attitude. She seems unnerved by the big occasion, stepping up as a freshman. Ironically, finishing at the rim has been a weakness of hers, so hopefully this is the start of progress in that area. I just love her attitude. Really determined, gutsy, poised.
Jamison has done a fantastic job. She was just dumped into the role by Dylan’s injury, very reminiscent of what happened two years ago.

But Jamison has been transcendent — this time the backup is stepping in at point as if she’s been there before. It’s hard to believe she was on an Ellensburg high school roster a year ago. There are much bigger problems like putting the brown thing in the round thing (thanks, Joe).

Congratulations, Jamison on a conference game winner!

Assists and steals. It’s almost unfair to ask her for more points

She deserves mention also for putting herself in position to draw charges and disrupt the rhythm of the opposing offense. She's stepped up to the speed of NCAA basketball without any hesitation. Great asset to the team and love to idea of watching her skills continue to grow and her game flourish as a CAT in the next four years!

Ha! You are correct it is the time of the portal. So I guess i am implying that not only does she have great skills on the court she has the kind of character that recognizes where she started and grew and will stay to contribute throughout her eligibility.
Time will tell, I'm betting on the positive.

I was surprised by that stat! Seems like she is playing at a higher level to only get 9 minutes on the court.

Speaking of Jamison... can someone get a note to ian Laird it's Jamison and not Jasmine --- and Philip not Philps.
I get last year when he said Limardo instead of Martin... he had a number of seasons of Limardo. And he has done a good job with Brooke's last name changing, so it's surprising we are in conference play and he's missing on both names of our starting point guard.

I was musing (no gris renting head-space) about why sidelining Brooke and Heidi seemed to make such an outsized impact. The team has only two players averaging over 50% on field goal shooting! Yup. Brooke at .531 and Heidi at .533. Three of the starters are shooting under 40%!

Hurry back, Brooke and Heidi!

I was glad that Harris got a put back on Smith's missed three. I hope Smith keeps shooting when she's that open!

I honestly didn’t even realize I was saying it... But don't worry, their Grandmother made sure to tell me after the game... It has been seared into my brain. Won't happen again.
