WBB vs Bizon

Post by nevadacat » Wed Dec 03, 2025 7:10 pm

Down 9-0 early. NDSU can’t miss, and when they do they get an O-board. Not moving the ball well against their zone.

Things are clicking now, but they gotta get the defensive boards.

24-19 NDSU end of Q1. NDSU has good speed and a couple sharpshooters. Our steal machine is starting up.

Cats are really struggling in this one, the long road trip might be taking its toll. One thing for sure though, they will not give up!

Bizon breaking the press and getting 2-on-1s and open looks in the corner. We have nine turnovers. 39-26 with 4 min left in half.

On dead ball in bounds, the Bison are travelling. Moving and shuffling their feet. Not being called.

I haven’t seen that called in decades.

Gotta play smarter and under control in 2nd half. We’re a little discombobulated.
49-38 at half

Now down 15 halfway through third. NDSU can’t miss from 3. We are missing open layups.

A 25 point loss in Fargo. Uffda. Simply got outshot, outboarded, and outrun. Hopefully we’ll play better against the Flickertails on Saturday.

Burn the tape on this one and get back home for Saturday! Should be a nice opportunity for a bounce back game against UND, which lost by 30 at home to the Griz tonight and is 1-8 on the season.

Youth showed. Struggled vs zone. Leave open shooters in corners trying to double or pressure and NDSU consistently made them where others haven't Broke press consistently enough to score easily offsetting what Cats got out of it. Miss easy layups after steals.
My biggest disappointment is unwillingness or inability to change gameplan or style when it wasn't working.

Lost in this loss is Izzy going for 22. Is that a career high?

Yes, her previous career high was 15 against BYU her freshman year and again against Idaho State in last year's Big Sky Tournament semifinal game.

Well that was a piece of humble pie. NDSU is very good. They exposed our inability to block out and made us pay when they broke our press. It didn't hurt that a team that was shooting 29.8% from three on the year hit nine of their first eleven and finished at 11-18 (61%). UND will be a cakewalk on Saturday. A struggling UM team blew them out 86-56 in Grand Forks.

That's because it's not a violation. You just can't move out of that box, about a yard wide. You can also back up on a dead ball throw in with no violation. Just can't go side to side.

It's such a shame that her best game came in such a disappointing loss.

I'm unable to watch the game - I can't find any footage on YouTube and can't get ESPN+ here in the UK - but it's great to learn that Izzy had a career night. She was an impressive 6-9 from long range, whereas the rest of the team combined for just 3-20.

Back in October, the BBC published an article/feature about Izzy Bunyan. It's hard to find any basketball news on the BBC other than maybe the occasional article on LeBron James or Steph Curry, so you can imagine my surprise when I saw this article:

The game was on CBS Sports Network not ESPN+. Not sure if they have replay access on an app.
