So to watch the game from the start, you’ll need to rewind it to the beginning. To avoid hearing or seeing the live score, make sure your TV is muted, and don’t look at the screen until you get the fast-rewind going. Fast-rewind depends on your TV setup, but the controls on the remote control should work. Look for |<< or something like that.

After the live game has ended, there will be a gap of maybe 5-10-15 minutes before it shows up in the On-Demand list, but that version will start at the beginning — no rewind necessary. Enjoy the game. This is the best feature of ESPN+ — you don’t have to record anything, the games are archived for a couple of weeks or so.
