Hit all their free throws and are bringing home another win. Really great little tournament for the Bobcats!

You got to watch a good one! Any win against an up conference team is a good win…..no matter if it got a bit tenuous at the end!Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 2:59 pmIt’s better in person. Lots of fun today. Another fast-paced game with a lot of defense. Very impressed with Ella’s ability to guard all over the court. Need to be more active on the defensive boards. Their 6-3 and 6-6 are troublesome. We have quickness all over the court. The three new freshmen are miles ahead of most freshmen. Missing Taylor and Lexi this is still a formidable team.

Last year's team could blow a 10 point lead in 2 or 3 minutes. So far this season, this team is holding them off all game long.

You can watch on YouTube and listen on Varsity Network. I just couldn’t get them to sync well…audio always late.tdub wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 2:46 pmThe game is streaming on YouTube through UCF’s site. No announcers.

Yep, those are two very good wins even if it wasn't pretty at all times. The Bobcats are #93 in the current Massey ratings and UCF is #79. NAU is #68, so it's going to be a very competitive season in the Big Sky. Marah Dykstra is becoming a star, imagine how they'll look when Lexi Deden is back out there with her.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 3:54 pmHit all their free throws and are bringing home another win. Pretty big deal to beat UCF on a neutral court. UCF is a...checks notes...checks Wikipedia...Big 12 team. NAU knocked off Arizona who is also a...checks Wikipedia...Big 12 team. That's pretty darn impressive for our league.

Re: WBB at UNLV Thanksgiving Classic
No kidding. Just missed a double-double today with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Add 5 assists to that — is there a triple double in her future?
She’s obviously athletic. She’s fast. She’s relentless on defense. She believes any rebound is hers. I remember one of the men’s coaches long ago talking about “rebounding radius.” Does the ball have to fall on a player, are they going ten feet to get it? Taylee’s rebounding radius may be as large or larger than any player in recent memory. And she can push the ball up the court. I enjoy her misdirection passes — they’re responsible for a number of her assists as she not only hits an open person, but creates the opening as well. A special player — she’s got a lot of upside yet to be developed.

Re: WBB at UNLV Thanksgiving Classic
I really miss the live games since we had to abandon snow country. Lucky to have this Classic bring two games to our area. It’s hard to describe, but this team has improved so much from the Troy and Chadron games. These games were played at about a 10x intensity level. I’m very impressed by the ability of our long players to play tight defense without fouling constantly. And the smaller guards can guard. And they can play as hard as they can as long as they can because when they need to come out of the game another one comes in and they just keep going. Reminds me of the football team — depth. Freshmen and sophomores all over the place. It’s going to be a fun year as they have a lot of room for improvement yet! Stay tuned to WBB!BobcatDel wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 3:56 pmYou got to watch a good one! As a reminder Taylee was the AA Defensive POY at Billings West before she moved over to Roberts to finish the last two years of her career…which speaks to her tenacious defense. I don’t know how it looked live but one of the plays that stuck out to me was when the UCF player intercepted a pass and had a good quarter of the court lead on Taylee….it was like she notched another gear and ran her down in less than a half court….yes she ended up fouling to stop the layup but she was close to making a clean block on that run down….and I marveled at her athleticism.iaafan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 4:39 pmSo athletic. Re: WBB at UNLV Thanksgiving Classic
Looked like she was shot out of a cannon. Pretty much no one had a chance, but she was the one that gave it a shot — no hesitation — the effort was impressive by itself. That she closed on her took raw speed. The other player wasn’t laser-fast on the dribble, but she looked totally surprised when Taylee appeared out of nowhere. In another similar situation but without the long desperate sprint, Taylee did get a clean block. TV makes the court look smaller. The court in a mostly empty Thomas & Mack looked spacious, and she looked downright fast covering it.BobcatDel wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 6:07 pmAs a reminder Taylee was the AA Defensive POY at Billings West before she moved over to Roberts to finish the last two years of her career…which speaks to her tenacious defense. Thanks for the reminder about the AA defensive player of the year. She’s a multi-time track champion, including hurdles (300m?), and that tells me all I need to know. So great that Coach Bin recruited her, and very cool of Taylee to choose the great in-state program. It’s fun to watch her. Thankful I was able to attend — I hope the MSU teams will schedule more games at Las Vegas, Cedar City, and now St. George. They are all within 90 minutes. Caught the football game at UTech as well.
