Men's Basketball
Seems like its always easy to blame the coach when things are not going well. There are other factors as well. I have been a Bobcat fan since 1972. When I was going to school there, Mick Durham and Craig Finberg were lighting it up for the cats. The university has put so much energy and money into the football program, that I think the other sports and facilities have suffered somewhat. I am not necessarily against a change in leadership, but don't think Brad Huse should be blamed for the demise of the basketball program.

Who else would you blame. Other coaches have won here with a crappy floor placed on dirt in the fieldhouse. Our facility is not the best but I doubt it is so bad that players won't accept a division 1 scholarship to come here. The only responsibility Fields has in this is hiring Huse. The football stadium was sub standard when Ash took over and look what happened. We did not put money into the stadium until after we started winning. This is a Huse problem.Bighole1 wrote:Seems like its always easy to blame the coach when things are not going well. There are other factors as well. I have been a Bobcat fan since 1972. Support might be one thing, but roster turnover has been tremendous. Recruiting players that fit your style of play and fit Bozeman might be a challenge but every other coach at MSU seems to find a way. Huse has really struggled in this key aspect. Whether it is off the field incidents or players looking for a different opportunity, MSU has lost some good players. Rush and Johnson alone would have made this team really dangerous this year.
When I watch the football team play, I know that we are usually fundamentally strong team that has a mental edge to them. The Lady Cats (while they struggled this year) are going to moving up and down the court really fast and field a very athletic team from top to bottom.
The Men's basketball program has a the feel of a jumble up 10,000 piece puzzle that is never going to be solved, they have no identity as program, no direction of where they are going...it is a mess. After this many year, you can blame that on the coach.

Rush ? He would have to be in the positive column of Huse recruiting.

Re: Men's Basketball
We haven't had anyone in our program for the last 10 years or so who can hold a candle to the talent at UM or Weber. but at least Weber puts their money into Basketball.....football at Weber is like basketball here. At the U of M there is enough money to go around to all sports. When we can generate $400,000 a year for the basketball program like the QBC does for football....we will see a miraculous change there!
