Carrie Ojeda to sign with the Bobcats
Ok, Tom Brokow, I am going to call it. I am predicting based on exit polling of my different contacts, that Carrie Ojeda from Mount Tacoma high school in Washington will or has already signed on to play for Tricia Binford and Montana State Bobcats women’s team. Carrie Ojeda is a 6-0 player who averaged 20 points, 12 rebounds, 5 blocks, 3 steals, and 2 assist while shooting 55% from the field (37% 3fg) and 60% from the line. For the first half of the season she led the state of Washington is scoring at over 26 per game, but had some injury problems mid season that hurt her average. Her best game of the season was a 42 points, 17 rebounds, and 7 blocks game against Mercer Island high school. Ojeda is an All-Narrows League Bay Division First Team selection. Ojeda is also a very accomplished track athlete, in the high jump, long / triple jumps and the 4x100 relays.

Re: Carrie Ojeda to sign with the Bobcats
Sounds like another ringer to me. Tricia is doing a very impressive job in all aspects. She once told me it's a lot easier to go from 3 wins to 13 wins than it is from 13 to 23, which makes sense. She's inching her way closer and this class could do it.
Oh btw, mslacat, did you know you were on the BCN.com Hot Seat? It's been almost a week now.

Binford is doing a great job and if Carrie signs it looks like another great recruit for the Lady Cats!!

Wow, sounds like a steal for the Cats! I love the way the Lady Cat program has been elevated since Binford was hired. IMO she has done better than any of the recent hires, by a wide margin.

Found this on the web: http://new.tacomaweekly.com/article/2922/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Of course one of the players who will not be returning is Ojeda, who has averaged more than 20 points per game the past two seasons and has been the team leader.
“I enjoyed the role I had of leading the team, even if it was stressful sometimes,” said Ojeda, who plans to go to Montana State to play next year. “I think some of our younger players stepped up and they got good experience. I think Keana will be the leader of this team next year, and she will be very good at it.”
If nothing else, it looks like she will bring a physical attitude to our post play.

Looks like this one got away but for good or bad we'll still get to see her play (EWU).

Re: Carrie Ojeda to sign with the Bobcats
Here is what I have heard happened with Ojeda, it comes from a couple Washington sources. It is filled with a lot of rumor and speculation. In late February or early March she committed to the Cat's, that is even confirmed by a newspaper article quoting her saying she would sign with te Cats. Then in April she either told the Cats she wanted to entertain other offers or just started contacting other schools. Come the week of the signing period it was obvious she was not ready to sign, and Binford looked at another option Gretta Bak who committed and signed. The Cats then pulled their offer. I believe about the same time Rachel Pauli decided that that she was not going to return next year, so the Cats could have most likely put forth another offer, but from what I have heard the coaches decided that after signing 7 players they would rather hold the scholarship till next year.
Now to my Eastern Washington friends I do not want to insinuate that if the Bobcats had offered she would have chosen us over you. I don't know! Maybe we did. I don't know for sure. I have been watching recruiting for too, long to assume anything. What I do know is that EWU got a great recruit, maybe their best of their class, but life moves on and everything will work out for the best.

I really don't believe everything works out for the best. We lost out on one here, big time.
