He knows what it takes to compete in the Big Sky and Nationally. Some what the same philosophy as Kramer. It would be an easy transition I think. Paul is a classy guy with Montana ties. He know's X's and O's I can only imagine what he could do recruiting with $200,000 form QBC! Have you been to Cheney lately? I say keep the Eastern Washington to Montana State pipeline going!

Call Fields now! I'd never considered this, and it makes sense. Imagine losing the Northwest recruiting base  You be a genius, an I think I'll have to stop by after our "function" tonight and have a beer or few.

I am still going to push Van Diest. I think he is the best canidate although Wulf takes a close second.

If Kramer leaves I think Wulff or VanDiest both make great candidates, but I 'd take Wulff in a heartbeat.

Wulff idea not that bad. Although from what I've seen the Brick Sports Pub is a huge Griz bar.

I'd put Wulff above Van Diest, mainly from a recruiting standpoint; not really sure how Wulff would feel about following Kramer again, however. I seriously doubt he'd be interested, but you never know...

Since we are on the topic, what made the MSU job appealing to Kramer in the first place (especially considering how much worse the job was then than now in terms of the health of the program, QBC and Booster support, fan support, etc, etc.)? Was the job at EWU that bad, and made a lateral move appealing?

And have things changed since then in a direction that would make such a lateral move less likely? I honestly don't know ... and appreciate any insights/theories.

Another thing....have you seen the recruits that EWU has picked up just in the last week?

If Wulff came in (assuming Kramer leaves), maybe he could bring in some of those guys.

Van Diest would be the only logical choice. What has Wulf done? Nothing. Van Diest has only won 4 national titles. He can recruit and is a great Montana guy.

He made considerably more by coming to MSU; you've got to admit that the two flagship institutions in WA gets a huge chunk of change and the other three directional schools get scraps. It still bothers me to go to Cheney and see all the merchants with their WAZZU or You Dub crap instead of Eaglet stuff.

We can't lose our Northwest recruiting base.

I would guess that Wulff's resume has more to it than you are giving him credit for.

Van Diest has been very successful at the NAIA level ... I don't think anyone disagrees on that point.

I have serious doubts Paul Wulff would even be interested in MSU--I think he is ready to look at a 1-A job somewhere

Wulff still has three years left on his contract, not sure about a buy-out clause...his plan is to ride out this young EWU team then make his move to the next level. Of course, anything can happen in the wacky world of College Football!

Did any of you see Paul Wulff this fall? I am not so sure the man wants to be a college football coach anymore, but with the skill set he has, what else can he do? He looked demoralized and unhappy to me.

And this was when he was beating us.

I just don't think he has the verve Montana State needs. I respect what he has done, but think other potential candidates have better cards to play.

Just curious, what ties would that be? Wulff went to HS in Northern California, college at Washington State, and has coached at EWU.
