Paint the Town Blue and Gold Campaign
It's been 20 + years since we hosted a playoff game. This is huge for our community! Let's try to get our business owners in town to decorate their windows in blue and gold! Welcome the Furman fans that make this long trip to Bobcat country. I know time is short, but it would be great if we could have a couple of banners at the airport welcoming the Furman fans and maybe one over east main street. Also, it would be great support of our players who have put in a tremendous amount of hard work to get us to this point!
Does anyone know where and how we can get something likethis going between now and Saturday? Does anyone know anyone at the radio stations or the Chronichle to maybe help us. Dave V. and Dean Alexander at KBOZ would be a big help.

I had hoped that there would be an official push for this, but I think it may take a grass roots effort to do this. You can bet the Alumni Association would be behind this 100%. Contact the Chamer, the Downtown Business Association, the Alumni Office, and see what can be pulled off! This would be great to really use this excitement to increase Bobcat Athletics exposure.

Someone put a few signs about the "Gold Rush" up at the dorms, for what it's worth.rtb wrote:I had hoped that there would be an official push for this, but I think it may take a grass roots effort to do this. What's the difference between you and a mallard with a cold? One's a sick duck. I can't remember how it ends but your mother's a whore.

The Gold Rush posters refer to wearing GOLD at the game. The Blue doesn't show up but rather blends in to any other dark colors; so wear Gold instead.Egg Salad wrote:Someone put a few signs about the "Gold Rush" up at the dorms, for what it's worth.rtb wrote:I had hoped that there would be an official push for this, but I think it may take a grass roots effort to do this. Thaks for the suggestions rtb. I contacted the Bozeman Downtown Business Assoc., The Chamber of Commerce and the Alumni Association and suggested we move quickly to get the businesses to decorate thier storefronts in Blue And Gold and with welcome to the Furman Fans. Also suggested a banner over main street downtown and a couple of banners welcoming the Furman team and fans at the airport.
It would help if members of Bobcat nation made calls to these three Associations. Time is of the essence. We need to move them to action! They are all listed in the yellow pages!
Like I said earlier, this is HUGE for our community and will impact if we get future home playoff games!
We need your help!

The one thing that I have learned from going to University of Nebraska home football games is sportsmanship to opposing teams. The Nebraska home crowd always welcome's the visiting team with banners, a great opening applause and a send off of applause that they never forget. I suggest that we, as hosts, do the same thing and welcome the Palladins and their fans with open arms. We want a good game and this would help our cause for future home playoff games.

This is all awesome that people are doing this and I hope that we can get some of this done...
(do you feel it coming?)
...BUT why is average joe fan having to even try to do this type of stuff? I know the MSU Athletic department is hellaciously busy right now with all of the preparations and what not, but shouldn't we be getting all an out marketing blitz around town from MSU about this already? This is a huge opportunity to drum up support for the Bobcats from the community and I feel like MSU is missing it.

I agree kmax! WHY haven't you heard radio ads, been getting emails, etc. At this point we should be SICK of hearing about the playoff game not wondering if MSU knows it is going to take place on Saturday. This is a golden opportunity to promote the Cats. No fan should have to be calling the Chamber, etc to get this rolling. This should be done at MSU. With that said...if they won't do it, why don't we do it?!?!

BEAUTIFUL, The alumni association is listening and doing their part. I got this email
MSU supporters/believers, Chamber affiliates, DBA folks ~ EVERYONE out
there in the Gallatin Valley...
We've had a few phone calls, emails and in the mix - the message is the
right one...
It's been 22 years since Montana State hosted a playoff game. This is
huge for our community! Let's try to get not only our campus, but our
businesses in town to do their part in creating buzz around Bobcat
Spirit for this weekend's HUGE game. Let's:
* Hang the MSU/Bobcat flags downtown! [I can help get people if
need be.]
* Is there a GO CATS banner we could hang over Main St if the
space isn't already reserved?
* Hang the GO CATS banner at the SUB!!
* Decorate windows in blue and gold!
* Hang the FREE Montana State University posters all over town.
You can still get posters at the MSU Alumni Association (across 11th
from the Fieldhouse) - please come get them and hang 'em up!
* Welcome the Furman fans that make this long trip to Bobcat
country. Let's show them our incredible Montana hospitality!
* Put a message on your marquees and reader boards that say "GO
CATS" and Welcome Furman!
* Attend the Friday Fire-up at Spectators - 6pm - Coach Kramer
will be there!!
* Encourage your employees to wear Blue and Gold on Friday - just
like every Friday before a home game!...Saturday too, but the push for
Bobcat Stadium is to have a "Gold Rush"...wear Gold! Great idea!
* Does anyone know how to get something at the airport to not only
to welcome Furman, but to show our BOBCAT pride for loyals flying in for
the game and visitors to our area? If you know someone - make the call!
Yeah!
I know we don't have much time...
Let's stir up our BOBCAT SPIRIT for Saturday - spread the word to others
(please!) and do what YOU can do to help us out! Thank you!
GO CATS!

This is good stuff-things are starting to happen!! You are right guys, the average fan shouldn't have to be the ones getting these people rolling. MSU should have been all over this since Sunday. I guess this is why Peter Fields went and hired this outside Marketing Firm to do all this stuff starting next year. They have not done a good job of marketing in house. Someone made a comment about his wife being at the game in Missoula-(she is not a big fan) and she noticed all the maroon and silver around town. They do an excellent job.
I still think if members of Bobcat Nation call these three Associations as soon as possible it will ensure that they move quicker on this and get somethings done! The more the better and time is of the essence!

that's the key to hosting a playoff game. It does many things. Sure we might lose some money on this one, but the environment and buzz it creates will build community support. Community support will build corporate support. Corporate support will build donor support. All of that support will build new seats. All of the new seats will build revenue. revenue will bring another hosting game. IT'S THE CIRCLE OF bobcatLIFE!!!

The dissappointing thing I see on here are not the little things that seem to be happening, but that someone needs to call the businesses or the chamber etc. Take the university out of that town and half of those businesses are non existent. They need to back it every chance they get. One great way is to support one of the most visible events in 20+ years. If they are truly good business people no one should be reminding them it should already be done.

Rumor is someone is working on getting a police or fire escort for Furman's busses up to the game, XL Country is doing everything they can to get the word of "Gold Rush" spread around, and I am hoping every business with a marquee on 19th, 7th, and Main have their signs changed to Welcome Furman and to cheer on the Cats. If you know anyone with a business marquee spread the word.
