Bid amount

Anybody care to guess the bid $$$ that MSU made to get the home game? I say it was quite large, not sure how much, but obviously more than Furman.
Lets say the cats project to sell 10,000 tickets at an average of $15.00JimmyEatWorld wrote:Anybody care to guess the bid $$$ that MSU made to get the home game? I say it was quite large, not sure how much, but obviously more than Furman.
Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy...it is nice to see you are putting that Finance degree to good use!JimmyEatWorld wrote:Anybody care to guess the bid $$$ that MSU made to get the home game? I say it was quite large, not sure how much, but obviously more than Furman.
I think the NCAA sets the prices and take 80-90% of the gross. We have to guarantee the numbers at the gate. Playoff games are not money making games the home team.Eastcoastgriz wrote:Lets say the cats project to sell 10,000 tickets at an average of $15.00JimmyEatWorld wrote:Anybody care to guess the bid $$$ that MSU made to get the home game? per ticket. You could easily bid in the $100,000 plus range.
Just so you can count to 2 and save your ol buddy a couple of seats...right...friend...buddy???JimmyEatWorld wrote:Si Senor (see a little more diversified then just finance).
In theory, how would we guarantee numbers at the gate? I'm pretty sure the bid is based on a guarantee of $$ to the NCAA ... and we set the ticket prices wherever we want in an effort to cover that guaranteed amount.BobCatFan wrote:I think the NCAA sets the prices and take 80-90% of the gross. I remember earlier in the year a Chadron State fan telling us thank you for the paycheck as it bought them new uniforms. Perhaps we should go thank Colorado fans for the paycheck as it bought us a home playoff game!
If the fans do not show up, then MSU takes a loss on the game. MSU must have told the NCAA a certain number of paying fans will show up. If they do not show up, the school will take a loss. Like I said before, the playoffs are not a money making game for the home team. Next week, after we win, the game will be back east. The Mountainers draw like the Griz. We will not be able to outbid them if we had the opportunity and we dont since they are a seeded team.Bay Area Cat wrote:In theory, how would we guarantee numbers at the gate? If I have my facts correct, the bid of $200m is what we will gurantee as a mininum. Remember, the NCCA takes 75-80% of the total gate. At $25 for an average ticket price the total better be 13,000 x $25 = $325,000 with the NCAA taking $243,750.. As you can see, we need a full house to cover our gaurantee and not loss money on the game.Belgrade Big Dog wrote:I'm guessing that around 9000 tickets is the break even point. We need to fill the house.
Seeded teams can make money. They only have to bid the minimum guarantee. Yeah, they have to split the revenue above the minimum, but its usually enough to cover the expenses of putting on the game (security, vendors, ushers, etc). I'm sure Montana and Appy will make money on most of their home playoff games given the crowds they can draw.BobCatFan wrote: If the fans do not show up, then MSU takes a loss on the game. I think were golden I bet we get real close to selling out the way tickets are disapearing!!!catbooster wrote:This morning's Chronicle quoted Fields. He said we bid attendance of 9,600 but wouldn't say what the dollar amount was.
