Durham Interview

There was a nice interview with Mick on the radio earlier today...he talked about a couple interesting things, although essentially everything he said about the team has already been said so I won't bother repeating it.

1) He's a Yankees fan.

2) The Holiday Tournament is cancelled this year...he said we had commitments from both Pepperdine and Murray State (both historically very strong mid-major programs) but couldn't find a fourth team. Not sure if he was joking but he said every team they called hung up as soon as they found out who the other three teams would be. He said you need to have a "bad" team in order to get other teams to want to come because nobody wants to come here and lose two games. At this point Dean Alexander made a rather humorous comment asking Mick if he still has Alcorn State's phone number. They are planning to restart the tournament next year, N Dakota State is signed to come here for it. We'll also play S Dakota State in BB next year.

3) Speaking of scheduling, he also talked about how hard it is to get non-conference teams to come to Bozeman and how it's therefore very difficult to put together a non-conference schedule. He said he'd like to see teams added to the conference, because it would make scheduling a lot easier in that if there were more conference games they wouldn't need to schedule as many non-conference games.

4) For the first time, the entire team was in Bozeman for part of the summer. The whole team took classes and lived together in the nice apartment/dorms behind Hedges. Durham thinks this will help the team a lot, and says that all the "big schools" do this.

5) Durham joked that after watching the first couple FB games he was worried that Kramer would try to get Dissly on the football field (Dissly was very good HS WR).

6) Quadre still playing pro ball in Greece, Nico has job with Nike where he travels around making sure the big-time pro players are happy with all their Nike shoes and assorted other stuff. What I want to know is where do I sign up for this?

I was told that Nico's job was set up to be just taking care of Kobe and making sure he was happy. The job was all lined out just about a week before Kobe's incident in Colorado so he had to change directions and take care of more than just one player. What a sweet job, if Nico needs help I am willing to work for pretty cheap.
