Can we get another 12.000 +

Post by Cats14 » Thu Oct 21, 2004 1:04 pm

I was just wondering what everone thinks on what the attendece will be for sat. game. Can we make it the entire year with 12,000 fans at each game. The weather forcast calls for clouds and rain and in the mid to high 40's. Its a non-confrence game and for some fans who do not know how big of game this is for us they my just sit at home in a cozy chair and watch the game on omega. What is everyones thoughts?

I'm hoping for 12,000+! Remember, SDSU sounded like they are bringing a lot of fans up and have their own tent etc. So hopefully we will get a good turnout. The fans there last week were GREAT and LOUD! If we don't get the numbers, lets at least MAKE IT LOUD AGAIN. I'm bringing Yaeger this time to coat the throat! :)

Saturday is Gallatin Valley Kids Day. In the past it mean't that if you're a kid you can get free ticket. The tickets used to be available at Holiday Stores. However, this week I haven't heard anything about kid's day. The add in the paper says it's kids day, but it doesn't say what kid's day is. I'm thinking the Athletic Department is really dropping the ball on this one-promotion needs to be a lot better.

I would be pleasantly surprised if we break 10,000. Weather looks like it will be stable-but cool and cloudy, non-conference opponent, third home game in row, and hunting season has really hurt our crowds in past seasons (this is not a problem unique to MSU).

I picked up tickets for the kids today at Holiday, they had a huge stack of them, along with coupons for a free hot dog, popcorn and soda, I heard on the radio that Murdochs has them too.

Don't forget, folks. We are honoring the 20th anniversary of our 1984 National Championship team - the original Cardiac Cats! I hope we give these guys a good feel for what they set the groundwork for 20 years ago!

Saturday morning, everyone needs to hit Holiday and murdochs. I know those tickets are for kids day, but if parents don't pick them up, I would think MSU would be happy to just have butts in the seats, but only after the kids have a chance to get the free tickets. Last night, it looked like Holiday had about 500 or so tickets sitting there.

Yes! Get to Murdochs or Holiday and get some tickets and take a kid or kids to the game. If you don't have any kids-then borrow somebody else's. Remember, you could be taking future Bobcat All-American to their first game.

We need as large a crowd (and noisy) as we can get. 12,000+
I'll be there, with my wife and two kids. Everyone, bring a little one also.

Sounds like the weather may start taking a turn. Everyone drive safe....especially those making the long trek from South Dakota.

What is the season attendance record for MSU? I would guess with attendance so far this year you must be closing in on it?

Not sure what it is, we usually get 15,500 or so for the Cat/Griz, so we need to make that up with the EWU game I think. We need 12,000+ for this game and 13500+ for EWU and I bet we break it this year.

Not gonna happen. I would bet 8k at the game. Tailgate area was very empty, as were the stands. Still found fun with the tailgaters taht were there, but it needed more people.

Obviously you stayed in the tailgates for a long time, the announcer said there were 11,307 in attendance.

The announcer can say whatever he wants. East endzone didn't have more than 100 people, student secton was half full, and the southside was half full. I have no idea how they came up with 11k, but that is really stretching it.
Regardless, more people need to come out for the EWU game.

I'll agree on the endzone and student sides that they were down, but other than right at the beginning of the game or right after half the south side was pretty much full. It does seem that 11K+ was stretching it, but I will say there were alot more people there than I expected, especially after seeing the pretty dismal turnout for tailgating.

Season Tickets etc.

Post by rtb » Mon Oct 25, 2004 12:57 pm

Game attendance always counts presold tickets such as season tickets and any other tickets released no matter how many people walk through the gate. I am guessing all the tickets released for the kids day and all the student tickets are counted whether people pick them up or not. Just my guess as to why the number seems high.

There were a lot more people that came in on the student side after halftime. Not sure why? Late in getting there or whatever. But the Studend side in the 2nd half was about the size as it was the week before in the 2nd half I thought. I think the attendance does count season tickets though as those tickets are counted as being purchased, which they should.
