Key Matchups this weekend:

#2 Montana vs. #15 Montana State
#4 NDSU vs. #19 SDSU Neither is playoff eligible
#6 Illinois State @ #20 Northern Iowa
#7 James Madison @ #24 Towson
#10 New Hampshire @ #22 Maine
#13 Coastal Carolina vs. Charleston Southern (had big win last week)

#14 San Diego is scheduled to play UC Davis 11/25? First round of playoffs. Portland State is ranked 21st. If the Selection poll mirrors the Sports Network poll, how can they get in?

I was just going to point out that #6, #7, #10, and #13 are all teams that could be beat this weekend. If a couple of those happen, we could be on the bubble even with a loss. I am excited about this weekend and think we are in a great position after the disaster of September.

Yeah, Chuck South beat Gardner-Webb last week, but they got smoked by Liberty this past weekend.

To answer your question, if selection mirrors the poll, I think that Portland State needs major help to get in. Even though a few teams ranked above them definitely can't go to the playoffs (NDSU, SDSU, Princeton) and one probably can't (Cal Poly has only 6 Division I wins, although some people say that "rule" is nonbinding), there will be two unranked autobid teams. So, by my remedial math skills: Removing 4 teams above PSU would get them up to 17th and adding back in the 2 unranked autobids would put the Vikings on the outside looking in. They definitely need some losses above them (which could help the Cats, too!).

Glad to see that in your opinion the #2 team is not among those that could be beat this weekend!!! :)

We're in for sure with a close loss to UM if two of these four teams get beat: Towson by JMU; SIU by S. Utah; Maine by New Hamp.; NIU by Ill. St. Might get in with just a close loss.
