Lulay Offensive Player of the Week

Post by kmax » Mon Oct 18, 2004 3:08 pm

From MSU:
BOZEMAN, Mont. -- For the third time in his career, Bobcat
quarterback Travis Lulay has earned Big Sky Conference Offensive Player
of the Week honors.
The Big Sky honored Lulay for his performance in MSU's 31-24
overtime victory over Portland State. The 6-3, 205 lb junior from
Stayton, Ore., threw for a career-high 375 yards on 27-for-56 passing
against the Vikings, and led MSU back from a 21-10 fourth-quarter
deficit to tie the game and send it to overtime. He did so by
engineering an 82-yard drive in the last 1:55 of the fourth quarter to
tie the game, then led MSU to a score on the team's first overtime
possession for the victory. He shares Big Sky Athlete of the Week honors
with Defensive honoree Shane McIntyre of Montana and NAU kicker/punter
Paul Ernster.
Since Lulay became Montana State's starting quarterback mid-way
through his freshman campaign, Lulay has won 16 games, the fourth-best
total in school history. Of those wins, seven have been the
come-from-behind variety, four on MSU's final possession of the game.
Also on Monday, Lulay was named a I-AA.org Weekly All-Star. It
was his first such honor. In the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, MSU moved
from 25th to 23rd. The Bobcats landed just outside The Sports Network
top 25 at 26th.

Congrats and well deserved!

Lulay was also named NATIONAL player of the week by I-AA.org

ALL-STARS 10/16/04

* Travis Lulay, 6-2, 205, Junior, Quarterback, Montana State vs Portland State, Aumsville, Ore.

Lulay led another Montana State comeback, completing 27-of-56 passes for a career-high 375 yards and one touchdown as the Bobcats beat Portland State 31-24 in overtime. Lulay was the Big Sky Conference offensive player of the week. Lulay was knocked out of the game with an injury in the first half, but returned to help dig the Bobcats out of a 21-10 fourth-quarter hole. Trailing 14-3 at halftime, a 62-yard pass completion to Eddie Sullivan set up one TD and a 42-yard scoring strike to Rick Gatewood made it a 21-17 game in the fourth period. Lulay then directed a game-tying 12-play, 82-yard drive in the final two minutes, completing eight passes to set up Justin Domineck's one-yard, game-tying TD run on the final play of regulation.
