Griz and Cats mirror each other

Post by Cat-theotherwhitemeat » Sat Nov 04, 2006 6:34 pm

Have you all noticed how the Bobcats and the Grizzlies are winning games in the same fashion? They both have great defenses, crappy offenses, and special teams that you never know what will happen.

This years Cat/Griz game will be something special eh. I'm thinking a 6-3 score. At least it will be for all the marbles.

Congrats on the win today Cat brethren!!

Or maybe, given the strange year, 49-48. Both offenses suddengly light it up, and the D's can't stop anyone.

Either way, it WILL be interesting.

Funny, I don't think our offense stinks.

Couldn't agree more. We have played quite a few games where our offense has not played well (all at home, BTW), but I think our offense is overall pretty good and at times quite explosive. This year's team is a very good argument for MSU getting some FieldTurf, because we are flat-out awesome on turf. Hmmm, what are we playing on in a couple weeks?

If you get rid of your grass what would the cheerleaders graze on? Just kidding just kidding.

13 points against the worst team in the Big Sky at home, 17 offensive points against Weber and 21 points against Suc St. isn't exactly lighting it up. I think we're in the same boat. We can't finish teams. We struggle in the redzone. We get a ton of yards and end up with field goals and missed field goals.

The Bobcat offense can put up decent numbers but that hasn't been translating into points. Two picks in the endzone don't really help. I will say one of them should have been a TD but neither ball was thrown very well. Both passes were short and Rolo, like Swogger, goes through stretches of inconsistency. Can't wait for the Big Game which goes for all the marbles. I personally like our chances especially on a fast turf. Go Cats!!! =D^

There's a post on egriz that raises a question about your offense stinking. It says that you guys have been scoring more than the oppenents and are winning so your offense can't stink that bad. Isn't that what we are doing?

Why all the hoopla about field turf? We have a very quick team, especially on defense, and we are used to playing on it. I really doubt it gives the cats an advantage.

Except we have a very quick team and we are undefeated on the road and have scored outstandingly on field turf this season.

Don't bring facts into this arguement, they are not important.

You have to remember we have only lost 18 times in Wa-Griz (yes, I realize one of those was to the cats), and more importantly, we are undefeated at home this year. I guess something's got to give on the 18th

I agreed with ctowm , both the Cats and the Griz are not impressing anyone on the offensive side of the ball, while on defense we are very impressive. Neither team can put ANY team away. I think it is a generational thing with these kids. Like, "lets beat them, but not by much so they can take away some feel goods". :)
Who knows? All we can say is that both teams are nationally ranked in the top 20. Both teams have stellar conference records. And both teams are playing for the same thing-- FIRST PLACE! =D^ =D^ =D^

I wouldn't say our O stinks at all; we hung 39 on NAU & 42 on ISU. The Griz only managed 24 vs NAU and 23 against ISU, most of which were either scored or set up by their D.

IF we win the turnover battle (and that's a BIG IF), we win the game, IMO.

The only major difference is we win the games we are suppose too.

The Cat offense may not stink, but it surely isn't good. Our defense has really saved our butts this season.

Yeah, 36-7 and 59-14 have a lot to do with officiating. :bs:

Oh, you mean like last year's home playoff game with Cal Poly?

Common opponents so far (minus N.Colo), Griz have averaged 33 points/game. MSU 25 points/game. We've scored in bunches against the teams you struggled with and you guys have done the same to the teams we have struggled with.
