As every game is a playoff game, lets take advantage of the 12th man during our home stand.
Time to take it to the next level. Time for noise makers.
Any ideas as to what works, what is legal? Any suggestions.
Seriously, lets spread the word and make some noise this Saturday.
I always like pennies in a milk jug, can we bring them?

When I attended U of AZ, all the students would pull out their car keys and just shake them. Seemed to make a lot of noise.

Speaking of noisemakers, I thought it was against NCAA rules to have "artificial noisemakers" if the game was being played inside, but ISU was handing out Thundersticks yesterday. They needed them, I swear we were louder than their fans.

Listening to the game on the radio sounded more like a high school basketball game than a Football game.

In the imortal words of Bruce Dickenson (Christopher Walken) "Gotta have more cow bell!"

I ran into Coach Bailey today and I asked him about this. He didn't seem to think there was any rule against it.
So, let's discuss strategy in getting this out. Can we post things in the dorms? On campus? I'm wondering if the Chronicle would put something in the sports extras section regarding it.
This could be a lot of fun.

I think the only time noise makers are not allowed is during playoff games.

Direct from the Big Sky:
http://www.bigskyconf.com/qa_front.asp?qaid=296
Jim Joyner, of Missoula, Mont., asks Big Sky Conference:
"Are artificial noisemakers prohibited at Big Sky Conference Football games. Specifically, the 'thunderstick' which is a platic blow up stick approximately 24" long. When 'slapped' together, make a noise. These were used a lot during the world series, and I've seen them used at the University of Idaho game against the Griz. Any insights into this?"
Big Sky Conference responds:
"The Big Sky currently does not have a rule regulating the use of artificial noisemakers at football games. Artificial noisemakers are, however, prohibited at Big Sky basketball and volleyball games."

I wasn't trying to say you couldn't, I was just giving an official answer from the Conference to the original question of the thread.

I was just saying that ISU is definatly not the only team to do this. Thanks for the Clarification though!

Don't fuel the keys concept because that's Blue and Gold's big idea!!!

You might wanna go for the quart sized jug as a the gallon size might not fit in your coat with all the other stuff you are bringing into the game. You can have my ticket if you wanna bring the boy...I'll be down in Durango this weekend...I MISS ALL THE GOOD ONES!!!

Not all of us are as cashy as Blue and Gold

. So, I was thinking some things like:
1) milk jugs with small pebbles
2) cow bells - I may just go out to a dairy farm this week and see what I can round up.
3) Thundersticks
4) Anybody with megaphones?
What else?
Any ideas on how to get this out to fourteen thousand people?
Blue & Gold is working on the dorm thought. Can Longhorn or Celtic maybe post something in and around the bookstore?
I'll contact the Chronicle regarding the possibility of this being put in the paper.

1. Roll up a gameday program and:
A) Slap it hard into your opposite palm (bare skin creates the loudest 'pop')
B) Use the rolled up program as a megaphone by screaming into the small end.
Cheap, simple, effective.

ummmmm, just gotta say that, in my opinion, anything in a milk jug is just plain awful. I HATE those things - there's nothing more obnoxious....but, maybe that's the point.
How about just yelling?
I'd say if you have to make artificial noise, then go with the thunder stick -
