Big Sky Officials
Watched the Cat game until the Griz game started, then switched back and forth. Is it me, or do the Big Sky officials suck? I hate to sound like a winer, but both games seem to have a bunch of horrible calls.

I don' think the officials did too sh itt y this week. I was fairly pleased. Although we did win, I expect a great deal of pissing and moaning on BN this week. *sigh*

The only thing I took real issue in the game today was whenever PSU would try extracurricular stuff after a play was done.
The first was in the 2nd quarter (I think) when a PSU player shoved one of our players and knocked him down after the play was completely done and it was right in front of a ref. Now, I'm all for letting them play. But, cheap shots after a play are another.
The second was when Fuller was tackling one of PSU's receivers and lifted him (remember the throw last week? I think Fuller had to have wrestled). Anyway, Fuller lifted the guy up and instead of throwing him to the ground just carried him out of bounds. The receiver threw two elbows; complete b.s.

The officiating wasn't bad today, but they really let PSU chip a bit. All in all, the game went fairly smoothly.barechestcat wrote:The only thing I took real issue in the game today was whenever PSU would try extracurricular stuff after a play was done.

Jensen clearly hit the PSU player after the play was over. PSU player turned around shoved back. Both teams got away with one.barechestcat wrote:The first was in the 2nd quarter (I think) when a PSU player shoved one of our players and knocked him down after the play was completely done and it was right in front of a ref.

Please note we're talking about sportsmanship related no-calls that took place right in front of the officials. IMO not throwing the flag on these plays just leaves the game open to potentially getting out of their control. That was my biggest concern knowing that at least the Bobcats were emotionally charged coming into this due to some after game antics from last year.BigSkyCat wrote:You want to complain about officiating, how about the phantom PI call in the Minnesota - Penn State game???
Nothing like that in the Cat game so what's with the complaining? If you think you can do better I encourage you to join the MOA.

PSU has always played us like that. Same goes for Sac State. This year was no exception. The coatch's son was even thrown out. Watch out for that next week. Good win yesterday by the way.barechestcat wrote:The only thing I took real issue in the game today was whenever PSU would try extracurricular stuff after a play was done.

Very physical game, but when they tried to punch us in the mouth, we punched right back (metaphorically speaking). I think this team is finding its identity, especially defensively, and Rolo did a great job when Carp got hurt. Just love the kid's presence and poise out there, and he's got an arm to rival Swogger's.tampa_griz wrote:PSU has always played us like that. Same goes for Sac State. This year was no exception. Also love the way Mason sees the field and the play develop. He needs to put on about 20 pounds, but he's something special.
I hope both teams can hold serve for the big showdown in November.

I thought I would wait and see how PSU played you guys before I posted, so here it goes.
Is it me or is PSU a really dirty team. After a lot of plays they are either mouthing off and staring at the guy on the ground or giving a little extra push here and there. I don't know what to think about this. Since they played the same way against both of us that leads me to believe they are not all on the up and up.
If they are trying to get some PF penalitites called on the other team, whatever, but these really late hits and taunting the other team after a tackle after the whistle is childish at the least.
Way to go PSU on making asses of yourselves!!!

The one player I noticed was #3 for PSU. He talked trash the entire game and was in the face of a lot of players and was too physical after the play. I was waiting for something bigger to happen, but it never did. Probably a good thing. I think he should watch game film of himself.grizzaholic wrote:I thought I would wait and see how PSU played you guys before I posted, so here it goes.

There were definatly some dirty plays of pushing guys over the piles and that crap. But I think that we handled it really well with no dumb retaliations. Kicking the Sh1t out of the guy the next play seemed to work the best. That CB #5 got worked up and down the field all day. I think he spent more time on the ground than on his own feet.grizzaholic wrote:I thought I would wait and see how PSU played you guys before I posted, so here it goes.

I agree. #3 was just out of his mind the whole game. He would get burned then make a tackle and be all up on himself. Or he would be late to a play and just blow up one of our guys after the whistle.....never a call on him. I think all he needs is a game or 2 on the bench in street clothes and that might change his mind about the late hits and such.
my 2 cents
