Kusek's latest column addresses dropdown transfers. I give him props for plainly stating the fact that the Griz have become as dropdown happy as anyone in the country; however I have to take issue with his nonchalant awarding of the BSC title to the griz simply because "their D-IA transfers are better than anybody else's".
Hopefully our boys can give all these griz lovin' pundits a mouth full of dirt to suck on.

Yea, Chambers is much better than Jefferson!
Jefferson:
34 receptions, 444 yards, 4 TDs
8th in the nation in receptions per game, 15th in yards per game
Chambers:
7 receptions, 101 yards, 1 TD
Allen:
21 receptions, 284 yards, 2 TD
29th in receptions per game, 37th in yards per game,
Granted Chambers hasn't played much, but I don't see how you can boast he is better, especially if you've only seen him play in a game and a half.
And saying that a team has the best dropdown talent will win solely on that fact is a bit naive.

I agree. I think Chambers COULD be the best of the bunch, but there is no proof to that fact on the field. As of now Allen is easily the best WR the Griz have.
I do understand that a great WR's stats may not show just how good he is if the same team has another very good WR or great RB, but like celtic said, Chambers hasn't played much, and really hasn't had a chance to show how good he really is, even though he has made a couple of nice plays.
That article was wierd

JahGriz,
What's going on with Chambers? I had heard that he was in Hauck's dog house. Is this true? Do you know why? I do think he has the physical skills to be a great player in this league. If he was in "timeout" ,any expected time when he'll be done? If the rumor isn't true, do you have any thoughts on why he and Swogger haven't hooked up more?

Bare, from what I've heard, Hauck was upset at CC because he dropped a course during spring semester without notifying anyone. He still had a full load, but apparently he needed the additional credits to reach the level needed for a transfer. The end result was that he had to take courses during the summer, and then had to apply to the NCAA, which delayed his transfer approval. Allegedly, BH felt he should have talked to the coaching staff prior to dropping the course.

You forgot to compare the droped ball stats between Chambers, Allen and Jefferson. I think Jefferson is leading in that catagory also.
2nd. Allen and Chambers havn't had the joy of playing the 2nd string CB's from NAU yet,or a Div II team, or a winless 1-A team, or EWU damn the cats havn't played anyone yet have they. My appoligies to Cal Davis or is that Davis Cal?

Keep in mind that that winless I-A team is holding opponents to 19 points a game, same as the Cats scored on them, and this includes three top 25 I-A teams. They were/are in the same boat as the Cats - pretty good defense, anemic offense. The most they've scored this year is 13.
And that DII squad is now outscoring their opponents 191-61, with 24 of those coming from the Bobcats. They are 5-0 and ranked in the top 15 now. No excuses for losing to them, but top 25 DII teams can hang with upper-half I-AA teams, the Griz know this.
It is funny how good NAU was, all the Griz fans were predicting they would handle us - now we beat them, and suddenly NAU is in the bottom third in the conference? They were ranked #25 when we beat them.
The Cats have played a tough enough schedule so far. It isn't like you are comparing the QB from San Diego stats against Ricky Santos'.

Grizin has it right, and there were a few other small things I heard about, but the dopping of the class, thinking it wouldn't be a big deal, and not getting it ok'ed was a bad move, and almost cost him the year.
I think BH wanted to make a point/example by making Chambers work his way into the rotation. Clearly he is the most talented WR the Griz have, and by the end of the season that will be evident to everyone, but he is going to need to work if he wants to play. Because Allen is doing everything right and is a talent, and Bagely ain't too shabby either these days. When guys are doing everything right on and off the field, and another guy may have had some off the field "issues" and doesn't know the O yet, you can see why he hasn't had the plays yet. Personally, I think this week's game will be the game Chambers is unleashed.

Oh yes, now NAU sucks...just like Colorado.

Poor jagur1, you did have the misfortune of playing against SDSU (lost to a Div. III team) and SSU's (handed them their 19th straight road loss, way to go) stud defenses. Iowa lost to OSU 38-17 at home and had the ball for 19:30 in that game. What happened? I thought you said Iowa was going to win the Big 10 this year and that UM looked good in that game. The only game you have to hang your hat on (kind of) is the PSU win, but they played with a 3rd and 4th string QB, one that had one week in their system and no Muhamar Ali. So 3-1 with wins over two anemic teams and one injury depleted team, and a loss to an obviously overrated team is grounds for talking national championship. Come back IF you beat Cal Poly.
I take it you've been charting dropped balls for I-AA football this year, so why not fill us all in please. It's hard to drop passes when you drop (don't play in) entire games.
I know, I know...kmax...smack

that way.

We'll know more after this week. Our team will continue to get better and should be hitting on all 9 cylinders (Kramerism) hopefully in the next few games. Plus the added bonus is we get Groves and some others back this week and next week. Everyone is saying PSU is going to walk all over us which is fine. They are a good team. We are a wet Cat with our backs against the door this week. If we can pull this one off we are in business for the season. The Griz schedule hasn't been that difficult as of yet either. PSU is their only legit win really. SDSU lost to a Div III win and everyone knew the Griz would pound Sac State in Washington Griz where they couldn't spray on their PAM w/o getting caught.
Everyone is doubting the Cats .... just where I like us to be.

BTW, regarding NAU, no they don't suck, but losing their best corner did hurt. But recovering from injuries is part of the game. You could come into the season with the best starters in I-AA, but if your backups can't play, or aren't up to speed on the system, then you'll have trouble.
But NAU did lose a very good corner, I think only one though.

Losing Force/Papich/Leblanc (during the game) (2 starting safeties) for the NAU game didn't help either. That was a 1/2 of our secondary. But you are right, the MSU subs came in and played quite admirably I do say so myself.

PSU has over 20 1A drop downs, we had 4 on the roster that traveled to Portland, and we won by 6. Also look at JuCo transfers as well, I don't think the Griz have any, the cats have picked quite a few up haven't they?

SDSU also beat two Southland Conference teams, Nicholls St. and McNeese St. (ranked 16th at the time). They also had a very respectable showing against another ranked team, N. Iowa falling 27-17. Last year SDSU beat UC Davis.

You can try to knock SDSU, but they've shown the D-III game was a fluke.
In case you missed it, SAC ended that road losing streak against mighty EWU.
It is true that NAU has lost their two starting CB's. Clearly they are struggling with pass defense. They are last in almost every defensive stat in the conference and have given up record setting numbers the last two weeks.
