Kramer on Cat Chat tonight
First thing - Epi King is very doubtful for the game. Apparently they have done two MRIs on his spine, he has been in pain the last two games and they aren't going to mess around with that.
Hanson is getting the start at center this week.
Now the good things. Coach has had a rough couple weeks and could be down in the dumps, but his excitement is infectious. I am pumped for Saturday just listening to him. I love that about him that no matter how bad things might seem, he loves what he is doing and does it well!!
Also as we have heard he said they were too hard on the guys after the Chadron game and this week is about "sugar" and building the guys up.
Last point I liked and am now happy with the "strategy" was that he wants to fix the defense first because that is the easy part. Adjustments can be made to help the team be in a position to win, then he will take on the bigger issues on the other side of the ball.
Overall, I AM PUMPED and happy with what Kramer is doing this week! GO CATS!

Thanks for the update. I was wondering about Epi because he was there today, but not practicing. As I mentioned in another thread, practice was really upbeat today the short time I was there.
FTG!!

Great news. I posted on another thread earlier today that Kramer was going to approach this week very positive with the players and coaches. He has been in enough of these situations in his total career to know what it takes to turn things around. LIke I said earlier , I am confident he will do it. We have a good coach that has done wonders for this program. He needs our loyalty and support!
Can't wait for Saturday! GO CATS!

Yep, we will get there. Just need to improve some key aspects every week and we will continue to get better and rebuild from the early part of the season. Starts this week.soldier668 wrote:Kramer's strategy makes sense, fixing defense first because it's easier to fix, hope we come out and give EWU a quick and decisive fat lip. I like the energy out of these posts. This is when the real season starts, and this is when we play our best.

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

Something I think everyone has observed has been the messy looking center exchange all year. Both QBs have been slow coming away from center and actually look like they're about ready to drop the snap. Since both are having the same problem it might be that the center is having a problem getting the snap to them. Bad snaps can throw plays off just enough to screw up the timing of the whole play.cornbreadfred wrote:Does anyone here feel the switch at center was necessary? The o-line hadn't given up a sack until last game, why mess with the o-line, and especially at center, Lou has struggled the most so far on the o-line.

I think that is the problem. The exchange has gotten better the past two games (CU was by far the worse game), but I imagine the snaps are still not quite up to par. Sometimes that short delay with the snap can be the difference between a wide open WR and an interception or a RB getting a 12 yard run versus a 2 yard loss. I would bet this is an attempt to get our timing on offense better.crazycat wrote:Something I think everyone has observed has been the messy looking center exchange all year. Lou has been one of the more consistent of the bunch. I dont know about the C switch, but the coaches know plenty more than any of us do... does anyone here actually watch the game tape and analyze the OL play? If there is a weakness on the OL, it is due to our veteran tackles making freshmen mental mistakes. How many times is Jensen going to false start? I have a ton of confidence that this group will get it together, Coach Mac is a great coach... the road to improvement starts on Saturday.

I noticed that Carpenter looked like he was struggling to get a good hold on the ball but, after a while I figured it was him spinning the ball to get the grip he wanted but......crazycat wrote:Something I think everyone has observed has been the messy looking center exchange all year. If Lou has been the most consistant how come in the last game they pulled him and put Hanson in at guard? He has been messing up on several blocking assignments, Hanson is bigger but not stronger, and his shotgun snaps were consistantly low, I suppose shaking things up a bit may motivate some individuals though, I would also like to see Lulay in at wide out (heard he drops a lot of passes in practice though, but if you perform on gameday I could care less, any griz fans that can remember Levander Segars, he had the same rap)

They pulled him because they thought he had blown an assignemnt, but when they looked at the film, they apologized to him because he didn't.cornbreadfred wrote:If Lou has been the most consistant how come in the last game they pulled him and put Hanson in at guard? I agree with that statement. Tyler Lulay may not be an incredibly fast guy, but he can catch the ball and that is exactly what the Bobcat receiving corps needs to do.longhorn_22 wrote:Lulay looked like he had stick-em on his hands last game. I didn't see him drop one pass that was on the mark. He needs more PT. It seems as is he is the only one that wants to play.
GO CATS!
