Answer this one for me then: when Jim Thorpe gets hurt, why do we send a FRESHMEN on to the field to replace him for the rest of the game. How many td's to the TE did we give up because our young safety bit on play-action? One is too many, and I know it was more than that!!

Very good point - if you go with Henderson and/or Brown, you've got someone with proven game time experience. Quite frankly, I am getting a little tired of hearing the same excuse being used by the coaches: "So and so doesn't have a good grasp on the offense/defense yet, or this other guy isn't up to game speed yet." What a bunch of crap! You're telling me that Jefferson is ready to be in there? What about Retoriano - not only is he undersized in comparison to the other two guys, but he's a freshman! He got toasted all the while he was in there. At one point, they actually had him covering UC Davis' big-play receiver, Kays. Kays was wide open, but Davis QB Grant misread the play and threw it OB, otherwise it may have been 52-0.

What your looking for is called depth. Posters here have been claiming since fall practice that the Cat's have depth. I've questioned that, and IMO it's really showing now, even before Conference play begins.

it is not a matter of depth it is a matter of the coaches putting people where they should be. A classic example is Nick Marudas. He basically took up space on the field for the majority of his career. When they finally moved him to outside LB, he made huge plays and was at the top of the D's tackles and sacks. I stated this last year. Kramer's excuse in the post game show was pathetic regarding when Force went down, we caved in.

and Henderson has not impressed me at all while he's on the field. He looks lost, doesn't commit and has simply not come out like a leader. No offense to him personally, but his experience elsewhere doesn't translate to experience here and it seems he's as confused as the freshman

Marcosus is playing big - does he have it in him to put this team on his shoulders? Would be nice to see....

He is the one player that has shown up and really shown something these last two games in my mind. With Force out, it will be interesting to see if LeBlanc can use his energy and attitude to push the rest of the defense on to some better things.

I think LeBlanc is great against the run, but dont think he is all that great in pass coverage. He got burned a couple times in the pass against CS and again with UCD.

But he is good against the run, very good against the run.

What I dont understand is a 2-deep zone is a 2-deep zone, man to man is man to man, what is so difficult to learn about our defensive schemes that an honorable mention safety from Colorado cant "pick up" MSUs' system?

I don't remember where he was but he was moved last year or at least how the D was setup gave him a chance to get more involved. I watched Nick throughout his career as I used to work with his dad. His name wasn't called very often except for the final 3-4 games last year. I know something changed in the scheme of things as I commented on this at the time last year.
