EJ Cochrane with Eagles
Just a quick note...EJ Cochrane is backing up David Akers on the Eagles...on Monday night they have a nationally televised game in Canton, Ohio with the Raiders....he is having a really good camp...what a great learning experience he is getting...learning from one of the best leftys in the league....hopefully we'll get to see Ej sometime during the pre season games...

Actually, that game is Sunday night, not Monday...hopefully we get a chance to see both EJ for the Eagles and Gatewood for Oakland.catsalltheway wrote:Just a quick note...EJ Cochrane is backing up David Akers on the Eagles...on Monday night they have a nationally televised game in Canton, Ohio with the Raiders....he is having a really good camp...what a great learning experience he is getting...learning from one of the best leftys in the league....hopefully we'll get to see Ej sometime during the pre season games...

Thanks, kinda what I was thinking. It just bothers me when players loose mental confidence based on a certain place/team, then go on to show thier talent somewhere else. The optomistic mentor is me is always looking to find the ticket to bring out the talent under our own roof.MSU01 wrote:EJ always had a very, very strong leg...the problem as I recall was his accuracy (especially on kickoffs). I assume that after he got done playing here, he continued to work hard at improving and eventually got good enough for an invite to a NFL camp.

To backup what MSU01 said; Kramer "fired" EJ for awhile because about 60% of his kickoff were landing out of bounds, not just by a few feet, but by a few rows. He was always a good field goal kicker. The guy was all metro in the Philly area, no small feat (pun).
I'd imagine that a kicking stroke is like a golf swing, in that one little hitch can just f* with your head for a long, long time.
EJ's gonna do great as a kicker for somebody, I've no doubt.

Wonder if it would have been better to just let him kick it out of the end zone instead of always trying to pin somebody inside the twenty? Sometimes, I get really pissed watching special teams coaches trying to set up kick coverage inside the ten...and don't get me started on the lastest fad of pooching everything...GavinDonos wrote:To backup what MSU01 said; Kramer "fired" EJ for awhile because about 60% of his kickoff were landing out of bounds, not just by a few feet, but by a few rows.
