Kramer Comments

I was watching the QB Club meeting after last years Cat/griz game on DVD and made note of the follwoing comments from Kramer: (Disclaimer: Things can change and I am sorry if this was posted previously)

He stated that this years starting O-Line will be :

Jensen
Hirst
Verlanic
Saucedo
Birkland or Hansen

Outside LB's will be:

Lowe and Fletcher

He stated that Kalone had a learning year and should be improved and Siataga figured it out the last three weeks and came on strong. He really likes Papich. He will run mostly a four man front this year and a lot of two TE sets on offense.

He mentioned a player that will need a heart transplant eventually that he was concerned about. I thought I heard the name but I don't want to mention it because I am not 100% sure.

Listening to him talk and diagram each play it felt like he was sure he was going to win that game. And yes, he did mention the field and brought up all those years we played in the mud in Missoula.

Yikes on the heart translplant. If that was indeed necessary, I certainly wish that player all the best and a speedy recovery.

Good to see that Fletcher is getting the nod at OLB. Another local LB representing well. I was impressed with Claggett in the spring so this comes as some very good news.

I think Kramer's comments came after Cat/Griz last year, so they were made prior to Claggett committing/coming to school/participating in spring ball. What I saw in spring ball made me think that Claggett will be starting OLB with Fletcher getting some good playing time.

Claggett will get the nod but Fletcher is a rising star that will be playing a lot.

Makes sense I suppose. I was going to say that Fletcher must have shown Kramer a lot that I didn't see because I thought Claggett did a superb job this spring.

I was very surprised by the "Birkland or Hansen" listing. Not only is Birkland a senior, but also a returning starter (maybe 2-year starter?) as opposed to Hansen, a redshirt frosh. So the Cats might be starting a frosh, and 2 sophs in the OL? That's even a younger group than the Griz who will start 2 sophs themselves.

BIRKELAND WILL START! AGAIN KRAMER SAID THAT JUST AFTER THE BOBCAT /GRIZ GAME LAST YEAR. HE HAS SINCE LISTED BIRKELAND, SAUCEDO, VERLANIC, JENSEN AND HIRST.

Kramer made the same comment after the NAU game. He said Birkeland makes too many mistakes and that Hansen could very well start next year (meaning this year). He could just be trying to light a fire under Birkeland but I know he really likes Hansen.

Yea...when he comes to Helena he raves about Birkeland being one of the smartest linemen he ever coached. He says Hansen needs to be on the field but he is playing behind Birkeland and Saucedo.

I know Brant graduated from Helena but I always think of him as a Fort Benton guy!
