Anyone know the date (and time) of the next major scrimmage being held in Bozeman? Sonny Holland Classic I think it is called? I can't find that date so trying to make plans to head up to that in the next week or so.

Thanks in advance!

the Bobcats tentatively plan to practice Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week, with a scrimmage set for Friday afternoon in Bobcat Stadium. Plans will be firmed up as the week unfolds.

Went to a bit of the practice today. I left quite impressed with Jefferson. He is a huge receiver with pretty good hands. I think he is going open up the running game and get us huge yards.

It was quite windy so I couldn't get a real good analysis on the QB's. I would still say it's a tossup between Carpenter and Rolovich. I like Rolovich's release and his arm strength a lot. I think he has all the tools to be the guy. Although Rolovich has a better arm, I think Carpenter looked a little better in the pocket and had a better feel for the plays that were being run.

I saw Groves run a few plays and I feel he is still the man, but Gazzerro really showed he can run the ball. I am very impressed with his running ability and I wouldn't be surprised to see him push both Groves and Taito for PT at the running back position.

How about the other receivers? Any of the younger guys seeing reps today? Who else seems to have the hands?

As far as the "young" receivers go, I only really noticed Derek Green. He seemed very quick and he ran good routes. He was overthrown a couple times and the QB's didn't seem to be able to get him the ball. I like his potential, though. I also saw Toliver and Wheaton, but didn't get to see them catch any balls. Wheaton did have gear on though. I felt Barnhardt had the best hands today.

*Quick Edit: Wheaton had his helmet on and a rubber brace on his knee. He did run and whatnot, but I mentioned he had gear on, which was false.

Any updates on practices? Are things progressing, QB, recievers, any injuries?

No news. I actually could've made practice today, because the wind was relentless all day, which afforded me the opportunity. However, the wind also turns me off because I have to deal with it in a business sense.

The way spring is going in Bozeman so far, I don't think the 'Cats have had a day of practice without wind.

Survival of the fittest- 'Cats can also play in the snow & mud'.

I watched practice for about a half an hour today (Thurs) in the wind, and left because I had no coat (stupid I know, I was late for class and didn't have time to find one... ).

Jefferson caught nearly everything thrown his way on the one-on-one drills, and a couple in traffic across the middle during the scrimmage. IMHO, he will be our go-to guy this year. None of the other recievers jumped out at me, though Brown or Green (don't remember which now) made a nice catch on a crossing pattern in the one-on-ones. Toliver had stonehands today. Someone give that man some lotion to soften them up a bit!

Groves looks like Groves. What else can I say about this guy... he was bottled up any number of times, only to squirt free. Granted, he was wearing the red shirt, but still... He looks like he wants to play right now, running after the play was whistled dead, jumping around, clapping his hands. Taito got a few good looks as well. Different style of runner.

Caught the D-line practice as they were about 30 yds away from where I was. Papich is one of those "high motor" type guys. What a walk-on find.

Couldn't tell anything about the QB's as the wind was so bad. Beeson did shortarm a few passes....

Thats about all I saw...

So the scrimmage is at 4:00 today? I'm getting ready to head up around 11-12 today so was just curious if it had been moved/bumped up at all?

According to the FB Office, the Holland Classic has been moved to the 21st at 4:00. It could be held in the stadium but depended on the condition of the surface.

Technically the Holland classic is next week, but the last update I recieved was that there were two scrimmages, one today and the Holland classic next week.
