I don't see where he even played last night for New Mexico. Anybody know of his status? Portal again?

I watched quite a bit of that game and never saw him. No idea his status but remember reading he hadn't played much beyond the early part of the season.

I looked at the box score. They had like 4 or 5 guys with stats for running the ball. He was not in the box score.

He was in on the 2 point conversion that tied the game at 14. He received the hike as a wildcat, stepped forward into the line, lateralled the ball back to the qb who tossed the easy pass into his receiver in the end zone.

If he wasn’t 100%, maybe Eck knew this was a way to get him into the game? Pure speculation on my part. I had heard he was injured earlier in the season.

Possibly redshirt? I thought he still had one.

He started the season as a starter then was buried on the depth chart. He only had 350 yds through 13 games. He played in more than 4 games so I don't think he has a red shirt.

Could have been playing for another natty.

But it did free up more opportunities for Jones and Julius. I guess everything happens for a reason.

Perfect example of the grass NOT being greener on the other side…. Which has happened to a number of bobcats over the years.

I hope the coaches point out examples like this to current players that are considering the portal (like Carson Williams).

He played on special teams and was on the field a couple times during the game. I don't blame kids for getting in the portal, the coaches literally caused this problem by not honoring contracts going back years. But Scottre is a prime example of a player who lost playing time for a small payday. He went from having a legit NFL shot with the CATS, to a complete afterthought with the Lobo's.

I also blame the coaches. He was whipped to death with the number of rushes per game.

Good luck. Conner Moore, Dru Polidore, Jon Johnson, Andrew Powdrell, and Rohan Jones all had solid seasons transferring to FBS in 2025 while also getting a payday higher than what they'd get at MSU.

As for Carson and others, they should keep Vigen in the loop so he can not only advise them but also plan ahead for roster management. Carson won't be the only secondary player looking for a FBS shot after this season. Keep recruiting and developing...we'll be fine. The level of high school corner you can now get at the FCS level is much higher than 5 years ago.

I know that Moore and Rohan made some pretty serious money with their moves last year. I would say those might be the best 2 examples ever for the cats (for portal success), maybe Omar as well….

Did the other players mentioned above really make the right move though? I can’t imagine they had huge paydays…. Maybe I’m wrong though?

And again- maybe they are super happy with their decision…. But I gotta imagine there is at least some regret that they are not going after another championship in a week…..

Johnson and Powdrell were starting corners on two teams that competed for the Mountain West title. Dru Polidore was a starting safety at Cal and when he wasn't he rotated in. Would I have wanted them to stay? Absolutely but our program is built to sustain success, not lose it if a few starters leave. For example, if Jon Johnson and Powdrell stay, we maybe don't get to see as much Johnson, Williams, Carr, and/or McMillan. If Polidore stays, Taki/Dolan/Meredith don't play as much. If Rohan stays, does Rocky get to break out? Scottre was great but Julius and Adam are incredible together. Braden Zimmer doesn't get a shot if Conner stays. You see my point? And if a slew of them leave again this year, we should be comfortable as fans with the development program our coaches employ....because the results speak for themselves.

I suppose Bobby Hauck would think that is whipping him to death. He sure "saved" Gillman for the post season. Earlier in the season Gillman hardly saw the field in the first half of games.

Some guys want to compete at the highest level they can. And that means taking a chance on yourself knowing that you are leaving a comfy situation, and that it won't always work out. But they can say they tried, most people don't regret betting on themselves even if it doesn't work out.
