The Drive
Starting on our own 9 yard line. State bragging rights, Big Sky Conference Championship, #2 seed on the line. Wafrizzz bringing all the noise they can muster. We go 14 plays, 72 yards, and drain every second of 6:53 left on the clock. Have to endure a sack, a false start, and a 4th-and-1 at midfield along the way. Capped by a beautifully executed Adam Jones 15-yard run where the entire friiz D went to our left and he went right. As Coach Choate would say, "we took their soul."

O-Line really flexed their muscle on that drive. Lamson made some great plays, especially with his feet. The only questionable call during the drive was motioning Jones out of the backfield and passing out of an empty set (after we had been running the ball at 5-6 yards a clip), which led to a sack.

Re: The Drive
Julius Davis was a bunch of big time runs on that drive. I've watched the drive probably five times since yesterday and Julius was a stud.

Re: The Drive
I was going to post the same topic. This has not been talking about enough, and was the highlight of the game.
The griz knew they were gonna run it every play, and they couldn’t stop them (14 plays until the final knee).
Just awesome!

Re: The Drive
The drive was great, but going empty set on 1st down with 5 minutes left, when we were running it down their throats was a head scratcher. Took a sack, which eventually led to us having to convert the 4th down. Not saying I hate trying to mix in a pass there, but keep the run threat in their minds.

It was an epic beatdown!!! Could have scored again easily, but didn't need to. They had no answers.

I agree with that empty set play. I yelled at the tv before the snap. Just seemed a risky play for no need. Fortunately we executed our way through it.

Re: The Drive
Using the pass to set up the run. So aside from the sack, that play did just that; it set us up to run right at them.Randy M Drivel wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 10:16 amThe drive was great, but going empty set on 1st down with 5 minutes left, when we were running it down their throats was a head scratcher. Yeah no. On 2nd and 14 after the sack, we passed again, setting up 3rd and 8, where we dropped back to pass again and Lamson scrambled for 7 yards - narrowly avoiding being sacked again. Julius then converted the 4th and 1.Bobcat Sig wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 11:13 amUsing the pass to set up the run. Also did that on first drive inside 10 after the motion penalty. Don't mind a pass, hate the empty set vs that D.Randy M Drivel wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 10:16 amThe drive was great, but going empty set on 1st down with 5 minutes left, when we were running it down their throats was a head scratcher. The other long 3rd down conversion, Dowler in motion, Lamson pulled late, Dowler got absolutely smoked. Re: The Drive
Don't want to be that guy necessarily but that was such a classic NDSU drive. Love to see the ability to grind it out for a W.
I have no doubt we could have scored if we needed a score.

That was a great play, as was the last play of the game with similar action, but handing it to Adam on outside zone to the side Taco just motioned from.tetoncat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 11:55 amThe other long 3rd down conversion, Dowler in motion, Lamson pulled late, Dowler got absolutely smoked. Re: The Drive
When they were lined up at 4th & 1, I gotta admit, I was having flashbacks of the SDSU game. It looked like the same play call too, and the fact that he converted and then some speaks volumes to me about how much this team has grown since week 2.

After it was over, I thought, “Wow, that brilliant strategy for beating NDSU — that is, load up on skill and ignore the trenches — was proven dUMb against ‘NDSU-lite’”.

That play call was a head scratcher to me. I think Gregorak had a comment. I heard from the announcers booth. But I haven’t heard that directly. Fortunately, we got it handled.wbtfg wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 9:57 am100%!84CatGrad wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 9:52 amStarting on our own 9 yard line.
