Cats got one first place vote. Gris got none.

https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/ ... fcs-top-25

Also interesting-gris got one first place vote in the coaches poll.

It could be Barney blowing smoke up Bobby's butt, or kissing ass.

Hey now! I have it on supremely suspect authority that the coaches, writers, and referees take these polls extremely seriously and each of those individuals have forgotten more about football then we mere commoners could ever possibly comprehend.

In the Stats Perform, 27 votes separated MSU from UM. Makes me think the Cats got a lot of second place votes. I suppose one could dissect the numbers and get a better guess as to how many. Might have to start by assuming none of the top three got a fourth-place vote or worse. Probably a valid assumption with Lehigh in fourth place.

Maybe some of the voters are taking cues from the committee and giving us more 2nds.

MSU did also get one first place vote.

There are 56(25 + 24 + 23) = 4,032 points available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place votes. If you add up NDSU, UM, and MSU's point totals they add to 4,026 which means that (most likely) 6 voters have one of those teams in 4th instead of in 3rd.

The most mathematically feasible way I can find for MSU to get to its 1,300 total points is:

1 first place vote (25 pts)
16 second place votes (384 pts)
33 third place votes (759 pts)
6 fourth place votes (132 pts)

25 + 384 + 759 + 132 = 1,300

Assuming the voter that gave MSU the first place vote has NDSU at #2, then the Griz would have 39 second place votes and 17 third place votes. 39*24 + 17*23 = 1,327 points which matches their total. So there we have it!

Interesting how many undefeated teams there are this year. I think at this time last season MSU was the only one.

There will be one less Saturday evening when TN Tech loses to Kentucky.

Honestly there’s a scenario where nearly half the top 8 seed will be home dogs. If teams like Davis, UND, YSU are traveling to Tenn Tech, Lehigh, or Harvard they will for sure. This setting up to be the weirdest and hardest bracket to set. Sorry Leon.

This is so strange. I finally took a minute to study the rankings. A team like the Cats could first face a MV school like one of the Illinois teams, followed by another pain-in-the-ass MV school like ND in the quarters, but then play Lehigh? Or Tenn Tech? I don't have any real issues with the ranking, it's just super strange this year.
