Week 9 (Big Sky week 5)

Post by Prodigal Cat » Mon Oct 20, 2025 1:46 pm

No more open weeks for teams so a full slate of games. Went 2-1 straight and 3-0 versus the spread only missed picking Idaho to win on the red turf.
Puts me at 16-3 straight up and 15-4 against the spread on the season.

Friday night
Montana @ Sac St(+7) Montana is 2-5 versus the spread and really only covered comfortable against Indiana St, their Cal Poly cover was .5.Lots of noise around this one but Sac St is just that, number 1 in the conference with 25 sacks. Montana's Oline continues to be a sieve so expect to see Ah Yat having to move around to make plays. Problem for the Hornets is he's pretty damn good at making a blitzer miss https://youtu.be/A0kutfHFYIA?si=DJ0qXj_wwxbgaSsy&t=5505< this is the play in my opinion that won the Griz the game vs ISU. He's also pretty good on roll out throws. That said for what is 6 out of the 7 weeks the griz looked poor for stretches of games, nearly losing or not putting away lessor teams. "He cant keep getting away with it" says Jesse Pinkman and Sac players get up for the nationally televised game and put all that talent to use. Sac st wins outright as the underdog.

Saturday
EWU @ Weber St(-1.5) Weber had a nice offensive output against a very bad PSU. EWU is better than PSU, but not by much. Gimme the home team to win and cover

Davis @ UNC(+9) After I hyped up UNC's defense last week they gave up 40 to Sac St. While Davis will be coming out of the bye hoping to get a bit healthier especially on defense. UNC still has not lost a game by double digits  Davis to win but Bears cover.

PSU @ Idaho(-19) Toilet bowl of 0-3 BSC teams. Idaho still being handicapped like a playoff team. They most definitely are not. In fact, this game gives me pause because how often do you see a winless team get up to try a win that one game on their schedule they have a chance at winning? Still gimme Idaho to win but PSU covers that big number.

NAU @ ISU(-1) Everyone is ready to bury NAU because they lost back to back vs MSU and Davis? I had NAU as the most overrated team this preseason and it's kinda playing out that way. Their win over UIW is aging like an avocado as is squeaking by Utah Tech and 'only' winning 31-17 at PSU. ISU is tough test in Holt or whatever they call that abomination. Toughest one to pick this week and might change in the next day or 2. Bengals get off the mat, win and cover.

MSU @ Cal Poly(+17) What can I say? Games are about matchups and Poly has some weapons and all conference D-linemen that give some teams fits (see UM Griz). However they haven't played a defense this good and an Oline like this that will negate their ability to get that WR the ball or move Lamson off his spot. Being on the road usually would give me pause but that Cats showed in Flagstaff that the defense travels and the run game is starting to return to form. Cats win and cover.

Yeah, but as soon as you think that it's a 6-3 slugfest, right?

Ya, really tough to predict how these games are going to go... same with the Cats vs CP. Could be 6 to 3 like you say, could be 50 to 49, could be 48 to 10.

If CPSLO scores 7 tuddies on the Bobcat defense, I'll eat my hat. The only FCS team to score over 2 in a game was SDSU, and it took 2 overtimes to do it.

It seems to happen a lot. Same in baseball when both starters average two baserunners an inning and the final score ends up 2-1.

I could also see the gris winning 42-6, where they blow out the spread and still aren't within two touchdowns of the total.

Probably. Both of these teams have been middling to bad on defense. About the only time UM has looked like a good unit on defense was the second half of the Cal Poly game. A lot of that felt like self inflicted stuff from the Mustangs as well. The pick 6 to start it off was one the dumber plays from a QB I've seen this season.
Sac St will get a sack and then give up a 20 yard completion. Consistently inconsistent.

All eyes are on UM at SAC but I think the UCD at UNC game might be the game of the week.

I’m going with UNC at home 28-27. Taking UM 31-24, Weber 38-17, NAU 34-24, Idaho 14-10, and MSU 31-6.

Mmmm we need UCD to be as highly ranked as possible when we play them.

Oh, and (not BSC) NDSU 24-20 over SDSU.

If Mason plays, I think SDSU wins but no idea how the backup will hold up against NDSU and thinking it could get ugly if he has to go.

He’s not going to be 100% if he plays. SDSU hasn’t been playing up to its ability the last few games but they’re probably going to play well at home vs Bison. I think each defense will score or set up a score. I don’t think either team will crack 350 yards.

Oh... I wasn't meaning that as a real possibility but rather it's possible the Cats beat CP by that much,

Bobcat line is up to Cats -23.5 from -16.5(means people are betting the Cats to cover)
Gris line is up to gris -6.5 on Mt Sports bet where it opened -3.5 so same. People are betting the gris

This one is interesting to me. Davis/UNC is up to Davis -12.5. Public is not buying UNC despite them never losing by more than one score yet this season. Its in Greeley. Take from that what you will.

Okay boys, I can't get ESPN2 at my house and really don't care enough to go to a bar to watch, so I'm counting on a few of you to post some info from the Panda Bowl please. I'll check the scores on my app, but if there's anything worth sharing about the game, please share [-o<
