…..Moving on to the Bunnies…..
Yesterday sucked, but it was kind of expected. Once that snowball got rolling there was no slowing it down.
Really excited for next week’s game. I watched a little bit of the Sac State game last night. Jackrabbit’s qb looks solid and they have a good defense. Will be interesting to see how the teams match up.

SDSU is the same old SDSU. Their defense is really good, really good QB. The 20-3 score doesn't reflect how much they dominated SAC. I think SAC only had one first down in the second half. Their only score came off good field position and their most sustained drive ended in an INT. SDSU left at least 13 points on the field.
(Wasn't a good look for SAC. President went in talking smack and got smacked. I think they horded players from the portal with big expectations and I think a few of them bailed out after they found out SAC wasn't going FBS).

I was a little underwhelmed with both teams. I think SDSU is definitely a top team, but I also think they have some pain points they haven’t had in awhile, like us. It will be a great game! Sac state looked awful, their QB made me finally know I in fact do not have the smallest calves known to man.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 10:31 amSDSU is the same old SDSU. SDSU is going to be very good. So are we. Should be a great game, a tough matchup. I’m glad it’s at home. Our crowd should make a difference. There’s a very real chance at starting 0-2, and still being a top 5 team imo.

Since this thread is active, anyone know where I can score a hat that the players and coaches were wearing? The all blue hats

Yep, they’re gonna be a handful. Place will be lit. I like our chances, especially after the way we played vs Oregon. The areas I knew were good got stuffed by the Ducks but it became understandable shortly into the game. The areas of concern (cornerback and pass game) looked a lot better than I expected.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 10:52 amSDSU is going to be very good. So are we. Did you see the Cowboy hat worn by the HC or OC? Theatrics.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 10:31 amSDSU is the same old SDSU. Their defense is really good, really good QB. Just happy SDSU doesn't have Gronowski who debuted his 9th collegiate season for Iowa.

One of the Jacks starting LBs got a targeting penalty late in the Sac St game so he will be out the first half this week. I believe it was Van Tol.

I am looking forward to seeing our WR's catch a few long passes against SDSU, opportunities that likely were not there against UO. I think we'll have success in the short pass game (we just proved that) and with the run.

OMG, I made the mistake of peeking at the dark pink website - wow there are some braindead posters over there. Cat's taking a huge step back this year, weak and no depth on both lines, can't run the ball anymore, no leaders, no fire, will get thumped by SDSU on Saturday, etc. LOL
All this based on how we looked against what could end up being the #1 FBS team in the country.

The frizzles have to have the easiest schedule in FCS. EIGHT home games (I didn't think I could hate them more but that made it happen), so zero non conference road games. The only decent team they play non-conference at home is North Dakota. The other three are Central Washington, Indiana State, and Sacred Heart U. And their conference road games are Idaho State, Sac State, Weber and Portland State. They will likely cakewalk to 11-0. Hopefully Vigen gets his first road win in the brawl to mess up their little party.

Don't forget that a few of the other teams who's expectations for this season were based on incoming transfers are Incarnate Word and Sac St. 11-0 isn't happening.84CatGrad wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 3:17 pmThe frizzles have to have the easiest schedule in FCS. I felt like SDSU's defense hasn't dropped off a significant amount since last season. Bobcat offense will have to execute. Their offense was pretty ok. They relied on their offensive line to run the football decent and used that to get chunk plays in the passing game. The hornets looked lost a lot. They have talent but it wasn't a cohesive unit. The Cats are.

Mason is more of a challenge me thinks
Unless we keep him crowded in the pocket and he has the ability to get to the secondary and test our ability to tackle at that point. He is big and strong.
We control him we will be ok

Re: …..Moving on to the Bunnies…..
I was surprised how well our defense played last week. We had more personnel turnover on defense than offense, so I figured they would take a little longer to get going. Even if Sac State ends up being massively overrated (which is certainly possible), holding any team to131 yards and 7 1st downs is pretty impressive. It's got me a lot more confident that we can win than I was going into the game, preseason I was considering this almost a sure loss now I think it's closer to a toss up.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 3:31 pm

Offensively we mostly did pretty well but struggled in pass protection (we gave up more sacks in 1 game than we did all of last season) & we struggled inside the red zone (2 TD's, 2/3 FG's, and 1 turnover, plus another missed FG after driving down to the 22). That will have to improve this weekend on the road in a hostile environment against a great team. The running game was excellent, and will have to continue to do the same this week.
Mason played pretty well, was a little hesitant at times but also avoided making big mistakes. The sacks skew his running numbers but he was an effective runner, though I was a little surprised at how often we had called runs for him given that we don't really know what we have with the backups. Personally I would prefer he punishes team when scrambling out of the pocket than with designed runs. Most of his throws were on target when he did pull the trigger and he will only get better as the year goes on.

I read somewhere, haven't found it again, that Sac had 7 sacks on SDSU. Can anyone confirm that? And if true, is that something MSU might see success doing too?
