2025 Bobcat Rushing Attack

I haven't been paying too much attention to most of the threads on here, but keeping an eye on the transfers, obviously. Lots of varying opinions on the state of the program, in that thread alone.
Without tons of thought and research, I'm just gonna throw this out there and ask if anyone thinks we WON'T have the best, or at least a very top tier rushing attack once again? Personally I have no doubt we'll once again be rock solid and deep on the OL, and RB. I also believe our QB will be a dual threat, whoever that may be. Add in great coaching, and the culture that I don't think Vigen will allow to deteriorate..... we'll be a force once again.

Well, Vigen has lost three Big Sky games in four years. The rushing attack has been among the best in the country every year. I’d say the Cats still maintain that streak.

The Cats will once again have some of the best OL and DL units in the country. I am sure we will be a Big Sky power again and FCS force.
I expect another deep playoff run. I think a trip to Nashville is even pretty likely. This is what the MSU Bobcats are now.

Our offense is built to run the ball. We'll continue to run the ball and do it well. The QB that can best facilitate this will win the job, which means he has to be at least somewhat of a threat to run.

We will 100% still have a top 5 rushing attack in the FCS. Losing Scotty, Jared, and Elijah definitely sucks but the biggest piece we are losing is Tommy. His legs made a massive difference that made our run game even better. But as we saw most of the regular season, we don’t need Tommy’s legs to be a top 3 team. I think Chance could run a similar scheme with his speed and we should continue our success.

Chance was brought here to be a running type QB. If they can get him to make the right reads and decisions he can absolutely run the inside and outside zone offense, I agree. The unknown is can he throw it enough to function?

Already excited to watch the 1-2 punch of Julius Davis and Adam Jones.

They're a solid combo. I expect Jones to take another step developmentally and physically. MSU will also get another back in the fold. A 5-6 carry a game guy. Coon and ULH looked good in their trips with the 1s. I think MSU will continue to work the short sidelines and ULH is perfect for that, and Jones is very good there as well. In fact, I saw Coon doing well there in practices last fall. I don't expect Davis to be used that way much.
Oddly, MSU isn't as effective as it could be. If the new QB can pick up open receivers on mid-range and deep routes, then MSU will be more difficult to stop. The run game is great but loses effectiveness against better run defenses because of the inability get vertical. There's more risk there but it may be worth it to throw a few interceptions if it keeps teams honest. MSU didn't spend a lot of time working on this in 2024 against the weak early schedule and it might've bit them late in the year.

Will be a good combo but Julius' health is a major issue.

I wouldn’t see any running back and run behind a good line. You still need one that can get to the second level and breakthrough tackles. We did not do that for the most part last Monday.
