Takeaways

Damn it. NDSU does it again, but we need to be so proud of what we have going on in Bozeman. That crowd was absolutely incredible, and almost made the difference on those false starts. Tommy was one hell of a player but with the XDSUs losing their QBs I think we are fine. If not for a couple of plays here and there we could’ve walked away with a nice trophy. Props to NDSU for playing a complete game and having a great plan.

Takeaways:
D-line struggled, no sacks and the +1 run game hurt.

Special teams was great and should continue even with Brenden gone

We were so close to breaking off a big run so many times

We need to still improve in the trenches but we NEED to be comfortable passing it

Hell that one hurt but hopefully we can dodge the portal and coaching carousel. Go cats

Fingers crossed that we survive enough with the portal.

I hope Julius comes back next year, he’d be a great leader with his enthusiasm as long as he stays healthy.

This team has a great chance to be in Nashville next year…..as long as the portal doesn’t hurt them too bad. SDSU is in transition, bison lose stud qb, and South Dakota loses their stud back. I think Lance has said he’s staying, but I have to believe some Big Ten school is going to make him an offer he can’t refuse. Outside of those teams I don’t think anyone else is really close to making a championship run…..unless someone gets incredibly lucky in the portal.

Was hoping Julius would play. Didn't see him.

Yeah - a lot of teams are losing a lot of talent this year with all those players who would've been done in 2023 but got the Covid year graduating alongside the normal senior class. MSU will be right back in the mix next year with the talent they have returning bolstered by a few transfer additions depending on how many outgoing transfers they need to replace.

Anyone one that thinks Bobby is head coach worthy, should back off the pipe.

Yup! Cats will be find next year. We will lose some, but we also have a group of hungry and athletic freshmen (redshirt freshmen or sophomores next year) ready to make an impact. This years team was special, however, I gave thought many teams were ‘the team’ and ‘special’ so, why can’t a younger more rag tag 2025 team be it. Our dynasty will be here one day, and probably sooner then later.

He was dressed but I didn't see him play.

The team was off in the first half. Mental errors, jittery mistakes, etc. The long Cam Miller run was a game breaker. That was coaching/scouting. I really think they were the best team in the country this year, but you can’t have a half like that and expect to win.

Oh and one other takeaway— NDSU fans are classless jerks. They started a chant while Alexander was down, injured right in front of their side. It’s so sad to me that the fan base who has experienced so much success acts like that.

Yep, that really pissed me off. I let some biSon fans in our section know it and they didn't have much to say. That was BS.

I honestly hate to say it but it came down to experience. As much as I hate this narrative the Bison were comfortable early thanks to experience.

I think it’s hard to overstate the value of this. Also, the fact that they’ve beat the Cats so many time in a row.

Lots of psychology going on here.

Good news is we get a XDSU for gold rush.

I didn’t like the low shot that was delivered to the side of his knee there. Then to hear that the bizon were acting out in the stands doesn’t make it better. Hope he comes out of it okay.

For the first time this year, we felt the absence of our best D lineman and best LB.

It’s been 2/3 of the season without them and the Cats have done a great job all year adapting and figuring it out without them, so no excuses, but I don’t think there’s any doubt a healthy Schmidt and Danny U help that defense last night.

NDSU’s head coach is an even bigger asshole than Bobby. His postgame interview on ESPN showed his true character. Teams take after their coach, and that probably explains the three personal fouls along with an inexplicable non-review of Taco getting helmet-to-helmet brained while falling to the ground. Great team though, kudos to their players. Their coach really did nothing other than sustain success.

Already gave my thoughts on how proud I am of the heart the Bobcats showed, but I had to get that off my chest.

It baffles me when the opportunity to give credit to a tough opponent arises, some coaches just choose to be jerks.

I hobnobbed with plenty of very classy NDSU fans, before, during, and after the game. Too broad a brush to make a statement like that.
