THAT WAS AWESOME!!!

Post by nanacat » Sat Nov 23, 2024 5:11 pm

What a totally fun experience! I've been to quite a few Cat games in Bozeman, several playoff games, and even a couple in Pocatello, but WOW was this ever fun! Beating the griz, watching sack after sack, them not being able to stop the run, again, and again, WOW! I'm so happy I got to finally go to a Cat-Griz game and see the Cats become the outright Big Sky Champs and make history with a 12-0 season...won't soon be forgotten that's for sure.

And then to hear afterwards that NDSU lost, what? What a day!!

It was a fun game. But I thought the gris did a great job of shutting down our offense until the 4th quarter. The Cats got a significant challenge from the gris today. I also thought this was the most subdued Cat/gris atmosphere I’ve ever experienced.

Fewer griz fans there than previous years. Definitely missing something without their band (and our band not in Missoula). griz made us earn it until that big Adam Jones run. I thought they tackled better than most teams we've seen. Really impressed that they score a touchdown going into that blizzard. But our guys made sure there was very little drama in this one. Scoring on the first drive. Only giving up a field goal before halftime, and really just giving them no hope. That was fun!

Really did seem like a subdued atmosphere in all areas. Trolls have been absent on this board all season . And I have had no obnoxious texts from any gris friends all week. Seems like they have climbed back under there rocks. Wal-Mart is probably seeing a major loss on revenue.

The weird thing about this game is that nothing weird happened. No turnovers. No big special teams plays. No massive disputed zebra calls. Nothing weird. Which is weird for this game. The 'Cats just sort of slowly suffocated them.

Interesting perspectives from both of you. Having never been at one I have nothing to compare, but I sure enjoyed it. At the 2:00 timeout at the end of the game when they blasted Mony Mony and the whole stadium erupted was pretty entertaining. The elderly couple sitting in front of me were so adorable, high fiving everyone around them each time the Cats scored, LOL. I do see what you mean about the griz fans though, as the few in our area were pretty tame. I'm just not sure anyone in griz land, including Bobby, thought they'd win. And they didn't \:D/

Wow hadn't stopped to consider it, but you're exactly right! Kept figuring Böbby would try a fake punt, or an onside kick, but he never did. It's like he knew his team had no shot and was just trying to get thought the game. He didn't even take his timeouts at the end of the 4th as he normally always obnoxiously does, even when losing. But he didn't. That said, beating th gris NEVER gets old.

Agreed, and in the end we won by 3+ scores, but this game was a bit different than the last 4. The last 4 have all been about early momentum and the dam breaking open and one team just rolling. This year it was a slow and steady game. The Cats looked like the better team throughout, but the gris definitely made them earn it and actually looked damn good against the run for stretches. They just slowly piled it on and put them away over 4 quarters rather just have a wave of momentum early in the game.

I had mentioned the exact same thing, it was a good environment of course, but probably the most subdued cat/griz I’ve been to as well.

I listened to a replay of the first half on my drive home, and then watched the 2nd half when I got home. As fun as it was to be there I do enjoy the play by play and commentary. Except that Marty truly makes my ears bleed.

After reading some of the other comments, I agree that it seemed Bobby just wanted to be done with the game as soon as possible. I was truly expecting an onside kick attempt, especially after they went for two, but no. In his post game he spoke of loving his team but I just never got the vibe that he had confidence in his team. Playoffs could be interesting for them as they had a couple key players go down with injuries but I don't think their backups are near as good as the Cat's are.

Bobby didn’t do a couple things I thought for sure he would (onside etc). I was surprised and actually impressed when knowing the outcome was absolutely in the bag and he didn’t call any time outs. Was he showing some respect/class there?

They had 8 or 9 in box and Cats continued to run, stubbornly at times, bit eventually it wore them down

I thought it was because their secondary totally shut our passing game down.

Didn't throw a pass in the second half and STILL outscored them 14-8. Complete, utter, soul stealing domination by the Cats.

There was that funky kickoff that happened where they drilled it into one of our forward players.

They got their hands on some passes early on to knock them down and we went away from the passing. They obviously were ready for the tendencies in our pass game it seemed.

The Bobcat defense is killer. Another game with only 3 points allowed in the first half.
