How Many Run Plays For Tommy?

I'm talking DESIGNED run plays. I know that gets a bit tougher to quantify with the option stuff we run but I'm guessing we'll have around 5 plays where the designed play is for Tommy to run the ball. Ideally that number would be zero because our OL is blowing holes and our RBs are getting it done, and Tommy is completing a pass here and there but never has to run it. Should be a blast on Saturday!

This goes in the don’t fix what isn’t broken category. Cats don’t need to change anything to beat this team. Just need to execute and play clean. Cats are better than them at every position group. So keep Tommy running about the same as they have been. No need to “unleash” him.

What he said.

The cats are significantly better than the griz. And that’s not me being biased. Just do our thing- run the damn ball, take Advantage with deep shots when they stack the box, play tough defense, solid specials teams, home field advantage with our crowd. 20+ point victory.

I think we run Tommy early to set the tone, and then he gets only what is needed from that point forward.

My hunch is that our OL and RBs can" set the tone" early and pound them for huge gains without Tommy having to run at all... but we'll see how it plays out.

This. Tommy is at his best when he runs opportunistically. I'd say about 5 run options to keep the gris honest & a handful of RPOs. Maybe a couple more when the field clears out or he gets chased out of the pocket.

No more than 10 overall.

Tommy should just get rid of the ball unless he sees a clear opportunity to make +-10 yards and get out of bounds.

It's no secret that more than any other game, tacklers will be head hunting with intentions to remove the QB from the game.

Yup, even with a healthy Humphrey, I’d be all for letting Julius go out and set the tone on defenders. His running style and chippy attitude will be needed. After watching the Weber game and seeing that they had a few players getting in the heads of gris players seemed to only add to their frustrations.

How bout this though,

Who accounts for more TD's, the entire griz team or Tommy Mellott?

He'll throw at least 2 and run at least 1 so Tommy.

~4 - scrambles
