Hey Bobcat Faithful!
We are looking forward to this week's Big Sky Championship game. If you are in need of any recommendations for food, lodging, or any and all things Davis, Sacramento or the Bay Area, please let me know! I am one of the two hosts of our weekly podcast. This week we interview former Aggie legend Jake Maier (2018 Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year) and preview this week's game against y'all. It is on Spotify (Video) and Apple Podcasts. Links below.

I gave it a listen. Proud of your fellas and it’s understandable. You’ve had a great year. Going to be a battle Saturday night. I think the whole schtick that MSU hasn’t played anybody (not so much from you two) will be put to sleep this week. UCDavis is a great football team with some solid dudes. UCD winning in that town over the hill has all of BobcatNations eyes wide open.

Nice breakdown, guys. Fairly good analysis; however, my only exception that I would take is that late in the podcast, one of you mentioned that UC Davis would be more prepared for MSU than we are for Davis, based on the schedule and athletes each team has played. Looking at the schedules each team has faced, I feel that thought process is quite a stretch.
The only real opponent Davis has faced that would be significantly better than what the Cats have seen is the Cal Bears. Let's face it - our schedules are very similar. We have both played Utah Tech, Idaho, PSU, EWU, and N. Colorado. We also have similar opponents in UM and Sac State. So, to say that Davis has faced better athletes than MSU has just doesn't hold water. In fact, in almost all of those same matchups, MSU came away with bigger wins than Davis did.
Don't get me wrong - the Davis matchup scares me, and this is the game I have been the most nervous about all season long. Davis has some horses that will be tough to slow down. Defensively, MSU comes into this game banged up a little and Larison is just flat out scary. I wouldn't want to meet that dude in a dark alley! Teams have also been able to stretch out the field on us with the pass game, and Hastings can fling the ball around. Our tackling will have to be the best it's been all season. I like your defense, especially in the middle, but I also think with how MSU has been able manhandle most of our opponents, we have not shown what we can really do yet.

Of course there are some points I don’t agree with, mostly the comment that UC Davis is more prepared than the Cats, when they both played an extremely similar conference schedule. Aside from that, it’s a top notch program. The production is great, the guests are great, and the overall message is positive and when we are not playing UC Davis, it has been fun cheering for them.

Great job on the podcast. I would never have suspected that you were new to it. It comes off as very balanced and there is much less homerism than on many of the podcasts that I listen to from other fanbases. It should be a great game and an opportunity for both teams to better assess where they are at heading into the playoffs. While it was nice that the Cats were able to handle their business against Idaho and Portland State more decisively than Davis, I agree that playing some of those closer games and getting wins will be advantageous to Davis as it enters the playoffs. That being said the Cats have only had pushback in 3 games this year (NM, EWU and ISU) and could not have performed better when the chips were down! Hoping both teams come out healthy, but with an 11-0 MSU team.

I am curious which games you thought the opponent stretched the filed in the passing game.

Having to overcome some adversity of close games versus y’all mostly coasting to each of on your wins is probably a better articulation.

I guess when I listened i thought you meant that the big sky had a lot of dual threat quarterbacks, and not many 6th year senior dropback passers, which is definitely true. Hastings was a solid QB as a freshman and has certainly gotten better.

This is related to the UC Davis forum but thought it might go here. For anyone that peruses egris occasionally, check out this thread in their forum and you'll see the difference between gris posters (mouth breathers) and Aggies fans.
NCagalum attached an 8 page cluster analysis of the BSC. High level stuff.

What do you have to do to get a look at his analysis? I clicked on it and was told that I don't have permission to download it.

Great game and thanks for sharing your podcast. Your defense was as advertised and very impressive in talent and scheme. Good luck in the playoffs.

for how bad we played, y’all caused some of it. Would be intrigued with a rematch in Bozeman in the semis. Or championship. We ran the ball well against y’all and stopped your ground game as well. Two turnovers, 6 sacks and the punt return for a td the difference. Still had a shot which is promising. Go beat the Griz and hopefully we will se y’all again. Great to meet some of you last night. Amazing fan base.

I think you're a semifinal team. If next weekend goes chalk I think you're the 4. So really the only question is can you win a semifinal in Fargo? I think that's a big lift for anybody at this level but if your o line can play well the rest of your team can match up.
