There and Back Again

Making the drive from Billings to Bozeman and back even during night games is not very difficult. From my front door it’s 127 miles to the stadium. As Cat-o-nine and I were driving up we saw a few griz plates. It got me thinking about the hassle it must be to be a fan of theirs in eastern Montana as it’s not nearly as reasonable to make the 10+ hour round trip drive in one sitting.

Anyway, who here has the longest drive that regularly attends the games?

Those Plentywood folks will take the cake.

Front door to stadium for me is 131 miles... I live north and west of Marysville.

There was a story during the ESPN game against Idaho about those tailgaters from Eastern Montana that drive 500 miles one way to each Bobcat game.

No kidding? Was that in the pre game or between quarters? I’d like to go find it.

It's 550 miles one way for us from Southern Wyoming and we haven't missed but a few games in 20 years of season tickets. It's more than a football game.....

Well I know that. I know a couple of folks from Plentywood. They are fantastic for a variety of reasons.

You guys are awesome! I made that same drive for eight years. I’m happy I live closer.

It's 17.5 minutes from my house in Belgrade to campus. But game day we have to wait for our driver so it could be an extra 30-45 minutes depending on their timeliness.

Also the story by ESPN was late in the game and was nicely done.

The plentywood crew is awesome. They even have a QB club chapter, which is pretty remarkable.

In 2014 I was working in Northern Sweden, I flew back to the states on a Thursday. Drove from southern Idaho with a few friends on Friday. Watched the Cats play on Saturday. Drove back to southern Idaho on Sunday. Flew back to Northern Sweden on Monday. Roughly 40 hours travel each way.

That is dedication! Love it.

Last year in December I was in the Czech Republic and would have had a similar situation had we won against NDSU.

It’s right about 510 from my front door in Scobey to Bozeman, so add another 45-50 miles for the Plentywood folks. Due to the distance and two young kids, we don’t attend regularly. We did have some close friends who went to the griz game this weekend, and had to go through Billings both ways. That’s a 12-13 hr drive one way to watch your team get shellacked at home!

The clip was in the second half, maybe at the quarter break. I had to rewind it when I saw them interviewing Bear!

It’s only 201 to the stadium from our place on the highline. We have family in Bozeman so it makes a great weekend. Like WYCAT said, it’s about a lot of things besides just the game. We’re at the tailgates 4-5 hours pregame. We’re inside the stadium 20 minutes before kickoff. We’re inside the stadium until the final whistle. We’re in the tailgates for a few hours after the game. I love my time in the stadium! Call me sappy but it’s an emotional release to be there every week.

Man I hear you. When I lived in Bozeman from 2002-2012, I didn’t miss one home game during that stretch. Now with young kids in Kalispell, it’s 1-2 tops a year. That is a special place on Saturdays.

Some of the players parents travel to Bozeman for several games and I’m sure they travel further than most of us do.

It's right after the opening touchdown of the second half.
