Ty summed it up really well basically by saying it's BS that Dru gets ejected for that "targeting" call but the guy that smashes Taco after he called for a fair catch... gets to keep playing? I watched several football games yesterday. I think there’s a moratorium on calling holding in Bobcat Stadium only.

That should have at the very least been an unsportsmanlike conduct so if he did anything else the rest of the game he's gone. I really really hate when defenders get thrown out for targeting when the offensive player is dropping down. Once you start your approach as a defender you really can't change trajectory midway. I even felt like Dru turned his head specifically not to lead with his helmet. Rule definitely needs to be looked at again.

I would say that they do need to clean up their game, however, there have been some very flag happy reffing crews.

Flags are going to be more apparent when playing teams with inferior talent, seemed like a lot of our flags came from our guys playing more quickly and more physically than Portland. It’s like when you rough house in your childhood and you’d have that one friend that would no matter what always get hurt or tell on you.

The reffing this year is next level poor, they are unsure and uncertain on calls they make, looking at Danny U’s inadvertent whistle, he should have been continuing to blow that thing to get the play to stop after his oops.

The targeting penalty on Dru… wasn’t. He barely connected with the PSU player. It happened right in front of us and it certainly didn’t look like targeting. Such calls are incredibly frustrating, and must be hell for players and coaches

It barely knocked the PSU player off-stride. Looked like some shoulder contact — Dru turned his head, and did not make any significant contact above the shoulders. If it was targeting — then it was the worst execution I have ever seen. At least knock the guy down.

So Helmet to Helmet is an ejection, but slamming a player and his head to the ground is not. The rules need to change. I am guessing a players head will absorb a bit more impact than the ground will.

Yes, correct. That was the reason for my comment about this in my post. Totally agree.

Cats made a lot of bonehead penalties. What’s crazy to me though is as little of the Griz I can stand to watch, I see at least two or three helmet to helmet hits that don’t get called or even reviewed. Cats seem to get called for it all the time. But, if this team wants to have home field advantage through the playoffs, they need to clean up the stupid penalties that could easily be avoided.
