Was Adam Jones fumble a fumble? To me, it looked like he was down. Why wasnt that play reviewed?
Now that you mentioned it, I was wondering the same.
Call on the field was a fumble. Could have challenged it but the reviews we saw it was sketchy if there was enough to overturn. I agree with both of you I think he was down but what the call on the field plays a major role in Big Sky review chances.
If you spent any time over the weekend watching FBS, its pretty clear that the replay system is totally & completely broken.
I never wanted replay. I'm curious how you would fix it.
I like the idea of replay so you can go back and make sure there are no egregious mistakes by officials. I know it's baseball, but years ago there was that guy who had a no-hitter in the 9th and a guy was running out a little ground ball. He was clearly out at first but the ump called him safe. Ump admitted he blew it but there was nothing they could do about it and the guy lost his no-no. That's where it's nice. If something that's obvious and can easily be seen on replay in a few seconds, make the change. If it's not obvious, don't change anything. I'd say there should be about a 15-30 second time limit to look at a couple angles and if you still can't tell, don't change anything.

One more thing about the game...Brenden Hall shanked his first punt a bit, but all the rest were boomers. A couple of times he was very, very close to hitting the roof of the ICCU Dome before pinning them on the 5 yard line. The question is: what if he hit the roof? Touchback and put it on the 20?

Replay the down.

Edited to add: If you'd like to hear coach Vigen's opinion on the secondary play today take a listen to his post game interview that Colter has posted. Pay particular attention beginning at the 3:10 minute mark, and really focus in from 3:45 - 4:10.
Just saying that BBT and coach Vigen said almost word for word the same thing.
Ok, BobcatBuiltTexan is Coach Vigen - Confirmed!
We're on to you Coach Vigen!

I can completely and honestly tell you I am not coach Vigen...not even in the least. And if coach Vigen is taking any time to read these posts we wouldn't be winning on the field...lol...I know this is all in jest...but no I am a true Texan that just kinda knows a little bit about football....lolol

Alright-grumpy old man post ahead:
I'm watching the replay-and yeah I know most of our players by number, but not all of them. It'd sure be nice if we had names on the back of our jerseys like Idaho State...and most every other D-1 program in the country. It's not an ego thing for the players, it's a service to the fans-especially when all your games are on TV. Now...where's my dang roster sheet.
Alternate grumpy old man post:
We should keep names off our jerseys. It's a clean, classic look and players play for the name on the front, not the name on the back. It also encourages fans to be more invested and review the roster if they want to know who each player is on the field.

I actually agree with Belgrade in theory but like the no-name jerseys for aesthetic reasons. It's the same reason I like the all white uniform/helmet look. Too many colors and names starts looking too busy.
I hate not having names on the back of the jerseys. I remember on the first day of freshman camp when I was playing my head coach started by saying that your last name is now "the school I attended". Because anything and everything you do people will say "......school i attended football player". It was his way of letting us know that everything we do now is a direct reflection of the school we were playing for.

With that said, when I played before every single game I would look at that last name and tell myself that my last name represents my father, grandfather, great grandfather...my mother, grand mothers..my cousins...my friends and my coaches from high school. When I stepped on that field I'm carry that entire legacy on my shoulders and I owe it to them to give this game everything that have because I will not let them down. I don't know maybe ya'll don't carry your last name like that, but I do. I was the first male grandchild on either side of my family to graduate from college, so my last name means a lot. Yes I wanted my name on TV and I play hard for that last name because it isn't just mine. So yeah I like the last name because for ME it was one more thing that reminded me to give it everything.

Now with that said, it really isn't that big of a deal. With all of the double numbers having the last name keeps commentators and stadium announcers from saying the wrong last name. If you have a kid playing there is a sense of pride hearing your child's name called in a stadium of 17k fans for making a play. When they say the wrong name it can rub you the wrong way. It may seem like small potatoes but again when your name means a lot you want it said and not someone else's....but all in all....it's all preference....just win baby....lolol

Why did we not victory formation the last minute of the game?
I thought it was obvious ISU was not going to call a timeout.
When a QB knees a player in the head, you make them pay. Also, I think it’s good to punch those in, especially in conference play. Just keep your foot on the pedal
I would never call any team out for “running up the score” when they have less than a two-score cushion to win (16 or less). That’s absurd by ISU. MSU was totally right in pushing up the field on the last possession, where they could have scored on any given play. Sure, they could have taken a knee at the last second, but why penalize Scottre for doing all the work to run the clock?

And in the FCS, where playoff berths are subjective at best, it’s crazy to leave the field with less than a full two-score lead. There seems to be a sort of mental break-point in that area — less than a two-score win, ok, but not noteworthy. Win by more than two on the road, solid win. Valuable currency in the FCS. Let’s see how ISU handles the rest of the season if the situation is reversed. Nuts not to take the TD.

My only problem with running at the end is the possibility of injury. Jones was speared in the helmet, that could have been bad. Scottre had already had 26 carries. Just worried we'd have another Ifanse at SHSU scenario. Knock knock

Yeah, I can see trying to keep running plays there but I'd have preferred that they did it with the second team guys in there and not the starters. Fortunately it worked out and nobody got hurt, I remember one play towards the end where it looked like Wehr almost got rolled up on from behind.

Cats were only up 2 scores and needed a couple first downs to run the clock out. You don't do that with the 2s in a 2 score game. I guess once got inside 10 could have called TO and put whole unit in. Scottre only came in because Jones helmet came off

My reason for wanting names on the back of jerseys has a little less virtue than yours. I want to know who the hell the players were when watching old reruns of games! I’m old and can’t remember the players like some can. :)

I don't care either way on this issue, but I thought the bolded statement was kind of funny. MSU is honoring the 1984 National Championship team this Saturday. One of the most famous plays from that year was a 97 yard pick six play in the semis that propelled the team to the lead with just four minutes remaining and then to an eventual National championship. The funny part of that play is the television play-by-play announcer said the wrong name of the player who made the interception and he didn't correct the name until the players were celebrating in the end zone. Probably the most famous play in Bobcat history and it was messed up on TV. Not sure names on the uniforms would have mattered on this play, but it's still irks me a little bit that the call was messed up. Oh, I've tried finding the radio call from this play, but I haven't been successful.

You can see the play and hear the call on this video...approx 17:30

I'm not sure if sports wall posters are a thing anymore but you could make a pretty damn cool one by pausing that video shot from behind the end zone at the right moment.
