This could have an impact on the FCS and Montana schools.
Most likely??? Go after UTEP and New Mexico State out of C-USA. It sounds like the MWC would get a pretty big payout from the PAC 2 from taking those teams.
Loo they just take NDSU and SDSU clear path to the championship lolProdigal Cat wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 11:47 pmMost likely??? Go after UTEP and New Mexico State out of C-USA. It sounds like the MWC would get a pretty big payout from the PAC 2 from taking those teams.
A lessor probability is invite some combination of the Montanas and Dakotas.
It seems like the PAC should be looking at either Utah State or one of the Nevada schools to grab more media markets, even if the teams aren't good. I also wonder if they'll grab NMSU/UTEP out from under the MWC.kmax wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 7:04 amMore than just the MWC possibly adding. The PAC will still need to find two more. Could they convince Cal and Stanford to come back and not have to deal with all that cross country travel? If not then likely two more MWC leaving also eventually. Opens up more chance western FCS teams could be fielding calls from the MWC.
Agree I think it unlikely that Cal and Stanford switch back but I have to think that is the hope. Only reason that I can think that this is only taking the PAC to 6 and not immediately pulling in Utah State and UNLV also.coloradocat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 7:29 amIt seems like the PAC should be looking at either Utah State or one of the Nevada schools to grab more media markets, even if the teams aren't good. As far as getting Cal/Stanford to come back, are those schools locked in to the ACC to the same degree FSU is? If so, they're probably stuck there until all the legal issues get resolved and probably wouldn't want to be associated with a bunch of "state" schools anyway. Their self respect trumps travel.
Not including UNLV is the head scratcher. I know that the program isn't the most competitive but you would think they would want the Vegas market.kmax wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 7:45 amAgree I think it unlikely that Cal and Stanford switch back but I have to think that is the hope. Agree on your thoughts above. I would add Nevada to that list as well as that market is growing and it brings a state rivalry in as well. That would bring the total to 9 allowing for an 8 game conference schedule.kmax wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 7:45 amAgree I think it unlikely that Cal and Stanford switch back but I have to think that is the hope. UNLV and UNR may be a package deal like MSU and Missoula. It would be worth it to take both of them but maybe they just needed more time to iron that out.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 7:50 amNot including UNLV is the head scratcher. Man give it a rest. Everyone here know that if it were up to you the Cats would still be NAIA, playing in Reno H. Sales and getting its butt kicked every year by the griz. This isn't a "we should move up" thread. This is significant news that has a real possibility of changing the landscape of where the Montana schools call their conference home.

Eh, I'd say exaggerate a little. AFCAT does like to Grampa Simpson this topic.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 8:33 amExaggerate muchProdigal Cat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 8:30 amMan give it a rest.
