Big Sky Players in the 2024 Draft

I got nothin. I doubt any Cat players get drafted...but possibly Askelson would be the best chance based on his pro day? I only follow the Cats and Griz closely. I'd say Gubner should get drafted, he's damn good. Maybe Colter or others that follow the conference more closely can weigh in on any solid picks for drafted players.

Mccallan Castles and Hayden Hatten are the only BSC players on Sam's list. 7th round or UDFA projections.

I highly doubt anyone from the Big Sky Conference gets drafted this year.

I think Alex Gubner, Chris Walker and maybe Braxton Hill will get training camp invites from Montana. I think Nolan Askelson, Treyton Pickering get training camp invites for Montana State. Maybe Derryk Snell but that took a hit on pro day.

Castles & Hatten are a few of the other guys who I expect to get into camps.

Remember, the NFL camp limit expanded all the way to 95. And there's not weekly cuts, There's just one final cut from 95 to 53 + practice squad at the end of training camp.

A bit easier to get into a camp, much more brutal to get through a camp only go have about a 50 percent chance of getting cut...

Isn’t there a new thing known as a mini camp invite, where teams bring in select undrafted players who technically haven’t signed free agent contracts yet to get evaluated more? Then, if a team likes what they see, sign them officially as a free agent player for the upcoming training camp? I’ll have to research it. I’ve heard of guys getting invited to a mini camps but not offered a free agent contract at its conclusion.

Thanks Colter. Zero drafted players from the Big Sky? That feels like something that doesn't happen very often. Seems like there are always some phenomenal standouts that are clearly NFL players in the Sky every year.

I agree with Colter that Askelson and Pickering are most likely to get a look. O'Reilly is showing through his play in the UFL that he should have at least been on a 90 man roster and probably a PS last year, and I expect he will be on a 95 man roster this year. Definitely better than a camp invite player.

I think Askelson has a similar profile so hopefully he can sneak onto 95 man roster. . .

Not looking good for the Big Sky, but South Dakota State has a very good chance of three players drafted with the two OL in the mid-rounds and Davis as a possible 6/7 pick.

That was a talented team.

Yep. Still chaps me how close we came to taking them down in their house, when we were pretty much at full strength. We're right there. Now in 24 WE are the team loaded with Seniors. Although I think they had like 34 or something stupid like that.

Tommy’s health and better tackling are keys for another run to Frisco.

Gubner should absolutely be drafted. I get that he's not quite "ideal" size, but a whole lot of good DTs are around 6'2" 295. NFL teams need to get back to watching tape instead of relying on this stupid combine ******.

So only the 4th time ever that the big sky did not have a draft pick, right?

I would expect this to be more of the norm going forward unfortunately. In today’s portal world, majority of the nfl caliber players will not be sticking around. Valdez for example.

Idaho WR signed by the Saints.

Winston Reid to the Browns. In my opinion he is the type of UDFA that could make the team.

Valdez? He will not be in the NFL. I don't expect him to start for Washington. I wish him luck this year but he just is not big enough to play at the next level.

Ok……………………. Haha.

Anyway, the point I was making is that the best players are leaving before their senior year.
