But would they come here knowing they are stuck behind an FCS starter.catatac wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 1:27 pmMy vote (even though I don't have a vote) would be both. There has got to be high character kids out there that are legit FBS level talent, but not getting to showcase it because they're stuck behind NFL level talent. I'd say let's find a good one and bring him in and let him compete against the other QBs on the roster and let the cream rises to the top.Cats and Dogs wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 12:54 pmNice work R&R! Yeah getting a good FBS QB that is excited about transferring into our situation would be like catching lightning in a bottle for a second time. Maybe there’s a guy out there by the name of a Cean Shambers thoughtetoncat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 2:03 pmBut would they come here knowing they are stuck behind an FCS starter.catatac wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 1:27 pmMy vote (even though I don't have a vote) would be both. MSU has all the tools to be a prolific passing team in 2024, if it wants to be but I don’t think it does. It’s going to be interesting to see how the offense develops. On one hand you have to be envious of Walker, but at the same time he’s almost in an impossible situation. The receivers, backs, QBs and, mostly, the OL are top notch. I’m kind of expecting less RPO.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Definitely need the right type of player, as someone else mentioned - it worked great for Sean. Plus I guarantee the coaches tell all recruits that every position is open if you can come in and compete well enough and prove to the coaches you're better. Last point, coaches can tell the recruit that we are completely fine running a 2 QB system here, and it works.tetoncat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 2:03 pmBut would they come here knowing they are stuck behind an FCS starter.catatac wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 1:27 pmMy vote (even though I don't have a vote) would be both. Re: Tyler Walker New OC
I was unaware of the strong connection with Housewright - how that connection is what brought Walker to Montana State. It sounds like the offensive scheme will not change very much.
He did say the play calling needed to be adjusted more to take advantage on how it being defended.
His preference is to call the game from the booth, which he believes will be aided by having a QB coach on the sidelines.

I agree with your assessment and really hope the coaches capitalize on the skill set that is present on our current roster!TomCat88 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 8:43 pmMSU has all the tools to be a prolific passing team in 2024, if it wants to be but I don’t think it does. Re: Tyler Walker New OC
MSU threw the ball less per game than it did in 2022. Not sure if that is also reflected in the percentage of runs to passes. Basically there wasn’t a big change. I think msu had more explosive run plays but also more run plays of two yards or less, which was the main difference from 22 to 23. Those “negative” run plays were the difference in at least two games. I think that’s something that could hurt MSU again in 24 if it sticks with the current system.ThoughtUKnew14 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 10:22 amI agree with your assessment and really hope the coaches capitalize on the skill set that is present on our current roster!TomCat88 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 8:43 pmMSU has all the tools to be a prolific passing team in 2024, if it wants to be but I don’t think it does.
