Re: Old scoreboard
Heard that just like the old scoreboard, we opted out of the extra $2500 upgrade to have instant replay on this one as well.

Re: Old scoreboard
I heard the scoreboard will be just like the Wrigley Field scoreboard and all scores will be manually posted.

Re: Old scoreboard
It's true. They're paying me the $2500 instead to sit inside the scoreboard and manually post scores from all the other Big Sky games. The scoreboard won't have any Internet connection so updates will be sent via telegraph or homing pigeon.

Re: Old scoreboard
Last fall when we went to play SDSU we met a guy in a bar that worked for Datronics. He said our scoreboard (which had shipped the previous spring) was the same as they normally put in NFL and FBS stadiums. I don't remember all the teams but he listed about 5 that they had done at about the same time, I think one was in Denver for the Broncos.
He also said that a big difference was what controller you get, he didn't have any idea what controller we got, he worked on the board part and had nothing to do with making the controller.

Re: Old scoreboard
I went to see a Bronco game last December and they had a cool video on their big screen where they had their mascot climbing up mountains and when he reached the peak, he popped out of the top of their scoreboard. I thought it would be perfect for Champ to do something similar.cats2506 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 8:31 amLast fall when we went to play SDSU we met a guy in a bar that worked for Datronics. Re: Old scoreboard
Is a new sound system part of the Video Board install?

Re: Old scoreboard
I really want to make a sarcastic comment here, but YES!, they are using a new sound system.
It’s an entirely new scoreboard.

Re: Old scoreboard
I wasn't sure if the sound system was extra or external to the board. The previous system we had (prior to 2010) had video only and the sound system was separate.

Re: Old scoreboard
Can someone please post the dimensions for the new board? For some reason 100ft x 60ft sticks in my head but I might have dreamt that.

Re: Old scoreboard
The outside dimensions are roughly 102ft wide by 40ft high. Keep in mind there is a portion of each end that is not video board but backlit advertising. I have not been able to find the actual size of the video portion of the scoreboard. The old scoreboard outside dimensions are roughly 36ft wide by 39ft high.

Re: Old scoreboard
That certainly has never been the case at Bobcat games in Portland, where our fans are louder than whatever Hillsboro State can pull to a game. The games in downtown Portland were even better since our sections had the roof over it to bounce onto the field, and especially after the stadium was renovated for MLS soccer and the players were closer to the stands.catscat wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 3:40 pmHave been at away games and the local Bobcat fans aren't aware of the requirement to make noise and the appropriate times to do so. The away opponent fans also look at you like you are nuts, but it doesn't stop the Bobcat Stadium faithful from making as much noise as possible.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 11:40 amGood point. The unique thing about Bobcat Stadium is that the fans all make noise. Seems like if you don’t you are looked at like you’re not a Montanan or you’re subhuman, which is synonymous. I’ve been to lots of big college and pro games and probably only half the crowd is cheering during big plays.

The ends of the scoreboard go approximately to the edge of the number markings (10, 20, 30, etc). Football field is 160’ wide. Numbers are 9 yards (27’x2=54’) in. 160-54=106 or 2’ in from the numbers on each side.

Does anyone else have issues viewing the webcam?
I have tried numerous times over the last couple months, both on my computer and phone. All I ever get is a blank screen….
