Have not kept up on graduations and transfers. But we’re probably more like number six/eight starting out

There is definitely going to be some factors that could change this in the next 48 hrs or so. NDSU keeping Roehl means Cam Miller probably stays. SDSU losing their OC and lots of rumors that he will take Gronowski with him. Those 2 things alone might mean the Bison could get the preseason top spot. SDSU is talented but the are losing their best O-linemen, Davis has made it known he's declaring for the NFL. The twins and the tight end are out of eligibility. Not sure its a shoe in for them at #1.

Yep - I am guessing that the pollsters (unaware of graduations and transfers that have taken place) will have both Idaho and Sac State ahead of us. Possible Albany, Furman, and W&M because it's popular to pick those teams. It wouldn't surprise me if we started near the bottom of the top 10, or even outside the top 10.

Well that's a weird take... since the season ended with an epic had fought brawl against the perennial FCS powerhouse that is NDSU, and lost on a blocked PAT. Yes, I get the beatdown from UM totally sucked but it doesn't mean teams like USD, Albany, Furman, etc.... would have beaten the Cats in the playoffs. No way.

I don’t think outside top 10, however, if W&M are ranked higher than the Cats I’ll lose my ******. I think 6-8. As you are right about Albany and Furman. Honestly, I like starting middle to middle bottom of top 10. Gives the team a reason to keep the foot on the gas. I think it’s a curse if the Cats are 1 or 2 in preseason polls.

So you would be okay with NDSU 2ND but think Cats are 10th after losing to them in OT when accurate FG would have won it.

But if we are ranking teams in a pre season poll shouldn't a greater amount of our thoughts, analysis and vision be on where we think a team will be ranked at the end of the upcoming season? To put it another way, I'd be willing to bet you that the Bobcats end the 2024-25 season ranked higher than 10th that you suggest they be ranked in the pre season poll.

It's a lazy poll. Top 8 were all the quarterfinalists. We finished 9th.

This is exactly why I made my original comment that we will be ranked near the bottom of the top 10 preseason, or even just outside of the top 10. The majority of voters/pollsters are lazy and will vote solely based on this year's playoff results.

Vim is correct. The final poll was lazy and based on when you got beat. I still think the Cats are top 5 preseason this fall. Some order of SDSU, NDSU, um, and MSU will be the top 4. Portal will decide where. Right now I'm leaning NDSU being at the top. It looks like they keep Miller and some other pieces plus... they are NDSU. SDSU will still be #1 though if they keep Gronowski which is TBD.
