On to the next……
It’s been my belief for two years that next year will be our year. SDSU, NDSU and Montane lose a lot of talent, and we bring back a lot of key players. Can’t wait for September!!

Re: On to the next……
Need the team to locked in all season, no lapses. If you look at the games we won, it was domination, if you looked at the games we lost even the close ones SDSU, Idaho, and NDSU, we made stupid mistakes and didn’t convert on either touchdowns inside the red zone or field goals, specifically those aforementioned games. What could have been. I hope the fire is burning in the coaches and players right now. No fun watching others play for the chipper, when you know it was all in front of you this past season.
If your left, you aren’t right.

We'll be as good as our second string quarterback. I don't believe Tommy will get through a whole season. Ensconce him in bubble wrap until New Mexico! Hopefully we can come out of spring without a bunch of weird injuries for a change.

I'll begin next season February 21 when Vigen and company come to Billings for a Bobcat dinner.

Hopefully this game spurred reflection and lessons for next season. Also hoping the learning opportunities in the games you mentioned were taken as well. The cat gris disappointment better have put things in perspective as well. Bottom line is they hate the cats and we should hate them for it.Hi-Line Bobcat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 4:26 pmNeed the team to locked in all season, no lapses. Hating them because they’re an embarrassment of an institution that has no business acting like a reputable university is also an acceptable reason.
Only thing better than watching the gris lose is when the Cats win

Would it be considered rude to ask him why he hasn’t fired housewrong?

If he gets hurt on another dumb play call by housewrong then I will continue to blame housewrong. Tommy is a stud but has to be used for what he can do not whatever whim housewrong has when he’s making bad play calls.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 4:55 pmWe'll be as good as our second string quarterback. I vote we petition the NCAA for a spring season so we can have two different football teams and while we’re at it demand they fix the mess that is the power 5 conferences after the dissolving of the pac12

2023 was our best chance IMO. Our OC and DC held this team back. One is gone. If we can move on from our OC we have a chance next year but will probably have less talent.MinnesotaBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 4:23 pmIt’s been my belief for two years that next year will be our year. I don’t second that 2023 was the best chance but I do agree that coordinators made bad play calls in key situations against good teams that went on to beat the cats. I was stoked to see Daly promoted and really want to see what he can dogtapp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 6:21 pm2023 was our best chance IMO. Our OC and DC held this team back. One is gone. The coordinators are such easy scapegoats, but I hope we all realize that the wins and the losses are all team efforts and no one person is responsible for either the good or the bad outcomes. MSU had a lot of breaks go their way in 2021 and 2022 that didn't happen in 2023. It is what it is, work your ass off and come back stronger and better in 2024.

I always thought that 2024 was going to be a huge year for us. Despite losing a few, we return a ton. Plus, after this season, I hope some valuable lessons were learned by all.gris_h8er wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 6:36 pmI don’t second that 2023 was the best chance but I do agree that coordinators made bad play calls in key situations against good teams that went on to beat the cats. Re: On to the next……
i think 2024 comes down to OC play calling and QB status. if they whip Tommy like they did certain back that went to Cal, we are in trouble. We need to get more backups into game time situations when we are up by 24+ points, not waiting until the last drive.MSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 6:54 pmThe coordinators are such easy scapegoats, but I hope we all realize that the wins and the losses are all team efforts and no one person is responsible for either the good or the bad outcomes. I agree. We need to find another experienced QB in the portal.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 4:55 pmWe'll be as good as our second string quarterback. Disagree with that part. 2024 was always shaping up to be "The year" based on how many sophomores we had on the 2021 team that kicked a** and made it to Frisco. A bunch of those players are still around. I also don't agree we'll have less talent next year, but we'll see how it all shakes out.gtapp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 6:21 pm2023 was our best chance IMO. On paper, going into the season/s, both 2023 & 2024 looked/look great. 2023 didn’t turn out the way we hoped. Hopefully 2024 will!catatac wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 7:45 pmDisagree with that part. 2024 was always shaping up to be "The year" based on how many sophomores we had on the 2021 team that kicked a** and made it to Frisco. Loses so far from 2023 to 2024 …….and known additions……(got this mainly from ‘Catsrgood’ posting) are.......
To graduation;
• WR Clevan Thomas Jr
• DE Ben Seymour
• DE David Alston
• WR Tayvian Williams
• TE Treyton Pickering
• LB Nolan Askelson
• DT Blake Hehl
• RB Lane Sumner
• QB Sean Chambers
• TE Derryk Snell
• N Level Price Jr
• C Holden Sampson
To the portal;
o DT Sebastian Valdez to Washington
o OL Rush Reimer to Cal
o OL Omar Aigbedion to Baylor
o OL Jacob Kettels to Kennesaw State
o S Kade Cutler to gris
o LB Jace Fizgerald to Western
o S Kendric Bailey to ?
New DC Bobby Daly.
Addtiions….from the portal;
TE Rohan Jones from Maine
OL Samora Ezekiel from North Texas
DL Alec Eckert from Washington St
Please comment/upgrade/correct as needed…..
It’s hard to say IF the 2024 roster will be an improvement over the 2023 roster. Probably the biggest upgrade would be Bobby Daly at DC IMHO……..biggest losses…Chambers, Seabass & Snell IMHO.....biggest need...place kicker IMHO. Still some time for portal additions along with spring & summer additions.
Certainly, our schedule is ‘leaps & bounds’ better for us in 2024 than 2023…….um, Idaho, Sac all at home…no NAU or Weber….no P5 team with a very beatable FBS team (New Mexico), and 3 non-conference FCS games we should win. It’s a 12-game season (6 home 6 away) in 2024 with 2 bye weeks;
Aug 24 at New Mexico
Aug 31 at Utah Tech
Sep 7 Maine
Sep 14 Stephen F Austin
Sep 21 BYE
Sep 28 at Idaho State
Oct 5 UNC
Oct 12 Idaho
Oct 19 at PSU
Oct 26 BYE
Nov 2 at EWU
Nov 9 Sac
Nov 16 at UC Davis
Nov 23 um
I’d say our 3 toughest games will be at New Mexico, at UCD & um. The last 4 brawls have all been blowout wins by the home team. The Brawl is in Bozo this year which could propel us into the playoffs with a dominant win. GO CATS!!!
