He’s not the biggest iDL, but appears to be plenty strong.
Somewhat reminiscent of Chase Benson, who wasn’t especially big, but was very strong. Here’s to hoping this guy can have a similar impact.

Re: Alec Eckert….beast!!
What’s this kids backstory? Looking at his stats he hardly played for WSU and that was in 2022, couldn’t find anything for 2023. Looks like he walked on there and has only one year eligibility? Last part could be wrong as I have no idea how eligibility works anymore.
If your left, you aren’t right.

You and me both! No idea about any of it anymore. I guess SDSU can have 34 seniors listed on the roster but that doesn't mean a bunch of them (15?) aren't coming back. Not sure if this means all the Cat seniors can come back or what but I have no idea any more.Hi-Line Bobcat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 11:38 amWhat’s this kids backstory? Not all schools label their rosters the same with the Covid eligibility. Since SDSU played the Spring 2021 season, a player could be in his fourth (senior) year of college but still have one more year of football eligibility left to play.catatac wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 1:16 pmYou and me both! Re: Alec Eckert….beast!!
Look at what our d-line and other defensive coaches have done the past few years developing these men. Picture this dude with Grebe, Eiden, Weins, Crews and a handful of others….this will be the best d-line in the Big Sky.
Punters are people too!!

An interior rotation of Schmidt, Brott (who had a sneaky really good year on film), Black, and Eckert is rock solid. The edge rotation will be better next year. Figure out LB and S depth and our defense should be great.

Vim, what’s your quick thoughts on how the defense might change/look with Daly and Howe leading it?VimSince03 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 8:59 pmAn interior rotation of Schmidt, Brott (who had a sneaky really good year on film), Black, and Eckert is rock solid. Hopefully more blitzing and creative plays. It’s exactly what the gris have done all year. Hell the gris blitzed us when we put chambers in for a Hail Mary right before halftime. I want that type of mentality.

I used to read the 406 stuff. I'm just too cheap to pay all these paywalls.

Wow, if we got 2 years of Chase Benson out of this guy I'd be ecstatic. To me the most underrated piece of that defense for a couple years...even by the people who knew he was good!BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 11:35 amHe’s not the biggest iDL, but appears to be plenty strong.

I should clarify that I meant that by playing style. Hard to say about impact when he hasn’t played since HS.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 4:09 pmWow, if we got 2 years of Chase Benson out of this guy I'd be ecstatic.
