SDSU v. Albany
MSU’s semifinal loss last year looks pretty darn respectable when compared to tonight!
One thing is for sure, SDSU is on a level above everyone else in the FCS.

They are certainly more than a few levels above UAlbany

Re: SDSU v. Albany
Last week was the big chance to upset SDSU. I kinda thought since Albany and Nova were close (even though Albany won 31-10) that this game would be closer.MinnesotaBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 7:25 pmMSU’s semifinal loss last year looks pretty darn respectable when compared to tonight!

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

35-0 at the half. Three interceptions by the Jackrabbits. They are simply bigger, faster, stronger.

Just watched a Liberty Mutual commercial with a Great Dane just sitting there doing nothing through the whole ad. Anyway back to our regular programming.

Re: SDSU v. Albany
Well this year was always SDSU’s title to lose and tonight they’re showing every bit why they were/are the favorites. Come next year I’d think UM will probably be tabbed as the favorites (just cause of how much SDSU loses just from graduation alone), but that’s with not knowing who UM might lose on the offensive side due to the portal. Regardless, next year has to be one of the most wide open it’s been in years as there won’t be the usual NDSU or SDSU type of team that will be so much bigger faster and stronger than the rest of the field.

True. You actually have to be embedded in these conferences to get a true ranking. I feel the Massey rankings are the most accurate. Too many teams that have no business even being in the playoffs. Then you have the distorted matchups you allude to (MSU vs NDSU in quarters). And the #7 Furman/Friz game where, IMO, it was primarily a close game as a result of two kick returns.

Re: SDSU v. Albany
Game one of the year. Same thing happened the year prior. UC Davis lost by 2 in the beginning of last season. The SDSU’s and NDSU’s just continue to get better as the season goes on. They always seem to hitting their stride as the playoffs start. Same goes for UM thinking they were better than Wentz and NDSU cause they beat them at the beginning of the year and then they showed them who really was the better team when they met again in the playoffs. Those two programs are the Tom Brady’s of the FCS, no matter what they did in the regular season, they’re not the ones you want to play in the playoffs.

Re: SDSU v. Albany
FCS should just throw away the whole season and have
NDSU-Montana St-Montana-SDSU just automatically in the semi's and get it over with

"Regionalization"
But the northwest US is the only relevant region at this level.
