I know it's become a common practice these days, but every other sports article seems to have a headline about another player entering the portal. Fortunately the Cats are still playing, hopefully until January. However, I wonder how many we'll lose? Seems like we've got some really good commits, in spite of losing 2 weeks ago, but I still wonder who stays and who goes? I imagine alot will depend on how tomorrow goes, and probably coaching changes. Thoughts?

Less than everyone thinks.

Portal opens Dec 4th.

I've heard at least 10-15 Big Sky players are going to get six digit NIL offers this year. Good luck keeping the best talent for four years. The main reason I really don't care about redshirting players anymore. If I had to guess, we lose 2-3 All-Big Sky players.

I worry most about Oline and two Dline guys.

Probably more likely than we'd like to think. If we lose tomorrow I could see our team get gutted.

Ughh… I hate to think about it. There is so much talent on this team set to return next year, in theory. Specifically in that junior class. It’s set to be another special year potentially next year if they were all back.

The nature of the beast is that they all won’t be though. Just hope we don’t get hit too hard.

It’s frustrating but man if a kid like Brody could make $100k or more plus free school he’d be crazy not to go.

Exactly, wouldn’t fault him as a person in the least, would just really suck as a fan to watch that happen.

This is still a fairly young team. I think if anyone goes into the portal, it is most likely going to be players that aren’t on the two deep roster.

How many and which positions will Coaches be looking to upgrade using the portal?

LInebacker? QB? Kicker? Others? Depends on how this season wraps up but the portal will take and give. Smart staffs better be on top of it.

Going to depend on coaching retention. If we fail to win tomorrow expect a lot of turnover, coordinators and players. The further we get in the playoffs the less we lose.


As a follow-up and o know it’s the wrong thread but O really don’t like that Boise is waiting until after tomorrow to announce their coach. I’m hoping Choate gets the job but it might be Vigen………..

A significant number of Jr’s are Covid Jrs and most likely have their degrees. Who would fault them for exploring their options.
