Something has to be done. Two conference teams benefited from the lax selection committee last year; e.g., Haslam's school bought not only their way into the playoffs but they hosted SEMO and the state to Montana's west got outed by North Dakota. North Dakota had to go to Weber then Weber back to MSU. The regional aspect of the playoffs and the MVFC will go head-to-head with each other and our conference year after year prior to Frisco.MSUBRONCO wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 8:38 amCame across this this morning

Even with 12 or 16 seeds UM wouldn't have been seeded. The issue with this seeding is what happens when last year happens again. Is UM really going to travel in the 1st round? Yeah right. Might force the committee to leave them out as they should have been. With the increase in budgets for championships though travel for regionalization shouldn't be a thing any longer.Cat Grad wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 9:14 amSomething has to be done. Haslam must have been pretty confident he'd be going back to that mess in Logan because he really screwed his conference members over.
One would think with these Out of Conference games:BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 11:22 amEven with 12 or 16 seeds UM wouldn't have been seeded. NDSU playing in US Bank stadium works as a "neutral site" game because it's only 3.5 hrs from campus and it's easy for fans/students to travel to. If the FCS went neutral for the semis they'd probably have to have a game at one or more of US Bank (DSUs), Broncos Stadium (MSU, WSU, Missoula) or Lumen Field in Seattle (EWU, Missoula, MSU). Any other NFL stadium would be even more inconvenient than these two for both teams, not just one, unless they got really lucky with who happened to play in the game. The Championship game isn't guaranteed to be a sellout without NDSU playing so I doubt any neutral site game before Frisco would come close to selling out.Cat Grad wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 11:35 amOne would think with these Out of Conference games:BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 11:22 amEven with 12 or 16 seeds UM wouldn't have been seeded. ...the FCS Tournament would lend itself to more and more neutral sites, that is if the powers that be are truly interested in eliminating both regional and the farce the entire Big Sky is sick of watching year after year, that is, those many "Miracle in Missoula" finishes we as MSU graduates are all too familiar with...
Would the NCAA have to be more involved with the FCS Playoffs? Certainly. Especially now that they've completely lost control of the Bowl Championship Series Playoffs.
How many FCS tournament games are sellouts? I can hear the same folks bitching about playing in Seattle just as they did when Tacoma had the National Championship game. Who the hell wants to go to the land of the vampires for anything? Fight the damn Denver traffic for a small college game?coloradocat wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 1:05 pmNDSU playing in US Bank stadium works as a "neutral site" game because it's only 3.5 hrs from campus and it's easy for fans/students to travel to. I really enjoy these neutral site games the BCS teams are doing similar to the NDSU-EWU game in Minnesota. The FCS playoffs are bound to be all the NCAA has left as far as football if the new commissioner can't fix the disconnect the big schools have with it.MSU01 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 1:29 pmGreat idea, long overdue. I say seed the Top 16 and then create regionalized matchups for Round 1 between the 9 - 16 seeds and the eight unseeded teams. This protects the Top 8 seeds from having a far more challenging opponent than others due to regionalization.
